how do you even keep track of the singles being released before the album when youre doing this whole process. like do you have those singles tagged with the different year in your library?

no i just end up looking at everybody's wiki/45cat eventually

especially after realizing At The Zoo/Fakin It and half the highlights from Odyssey & Oracle actually came out in '67 when ive always considered them firmly in '68

I’m not a big prog guy, but I’ll give it a shot

youre the biggest King Crimson fan i know if thats not prog than neither is this

I like their debut over everything else they did. Nothing else sounds like that first record. It’s much more focused on atmosphere and melody than their later work which is significantly more technical. Most prog generally going forward reflects that rather than what King Crimson started doing.

i thought their second album was similar been a while

yeah its the same with floyd who get called prog but are too melody based except on like Atom Heart

this Moody rides the line nicely

It’s very very good, but too bad it’s broken up into 3 tracks on the actual album. It works better as one song. Problem with a lot of prog is either breaking up something that could be one reasonably long song or stitching together a bunch of already reasonably long parts into something unreasonable.

time to check out this album

It is similar for sure. I’m over exaggerating. But seriously after that point it’s all totally different.
