If not the states as a black person big cities around the world are always nice, toronto, paris, barcelona, etc. but again those places are expensive. I think Central and South America might actual be the best places to retire as a poc or if you have lots of money to spend the rest of your days there. I think in practically all countries you can find a nice spot to live your life if you just respect the customs of the locals and do as they do. If they party, come out to party ever once in a while. If they are ultra conservatives, make sure you make it to sunday school? Can't be too hard unless the discrimination is very bad. And I know as black folks and coloured people in general, we put good vibes above all.
Dope answer fam, definitely see your point of view & agree with the back half of the post about getting accustomed to foreign places
Come to Amsterdam
Lisbon beautiful btw
Yo that’s funny you said that cause I’ve been meeting ppl from Amsterdam left & right lately (I live in NYC)
everyone says the quality of living is great so that’s definitely on the list as top 5 contenders
what’s your thoughts on Amsterdam tho??
Also yeah someone said Lisbon is comparable to San Diego in vibe & weather. I can see it after watching some pov videos
I know Northeast America is like the home of the prep but they're racist over there, especially Boston. I like the prep lifestyle but not some of the ideas ingrained. Any places in America where you can live that lifestyle without all the hang-ups, as a poc, no pun intended?
Edit: Potential contenders:
Dallas (North Dallas)
Atlanta
Bay Area (Expensive)
Charlotte
Nashville
SC Greenville
LA
Savannah, Georgia
Austin, TX
I live in Charlotte and love it here man it's a beautiful place. Love Savannah as well but it's kind of small
I heard Brooklyn is becoming severely gentrified, is that correct?
Yeah, Bed Stuy and Bushwick rn
Where are the low income folks going?
The Bronx and parts of Brooklyn and Queens

But what about language. I knew they speak English in Amsterdam but not so much in Lisbon. Language may be a barrier but not the worst one

Amsterdam is very multicultural. One of the most multicultural cities in the world. Also a lot of tourists, that can be a downside. It's a packed city. Actually better to do everything on bike or with public transport, which is very developed in The Netherlands, although most Dutch people complain bout it lol. Infrastructure is very good here
It's a typical traditional European city with an old city centre at the core. Beautiful, picturesque. Obvious standouts are the canals, popular culture, museums etc.
I'm from another city in The Netherlands, so it's also easier for me to compare. Aside from the other big cities, the rest of The Netherlands is less multicultural, but way cleaner and calmer. It's a small country, you can go from one side to the other in a couple hours
I will say the landscape isn't that amazing. The country is flat, hence the name. Southern Europe is way more beautiful and has better weather of course. It can get cold here, aside from the summer months. The healthcare and education here is on a higher level tho. Economy more steady too
people actually like preppy lifestyles now a days?
do you mean preppy like holister and ambercrombie and fitch and stuff like that?
Love the bay but everybody here kinda mean.
If you're a transplant yes, if you're a native no
By preppy you mean like hipster vibes or?
Lol I meant like an elevated hipster traditional, hipster without all of the hypebeast and vantage shiet

lmfao i wouldnt wear those companies anymore but i have been guilty of shopping there back in junior high lol
Stay away from the North West
That's what I'm thinking too, more trump followers over there

I would think that Amsterdam IS the most culturally diverse place in the world. I think the western elitism wouldn't be as pronounced in that city even though its still there.
Williamsburg, any gentrified area of NYC. Anywhere 15-20 mins away from NYC. Yonkers, fort Lee, whatever
No worries, and yeah I agree preppy is a bad term but I dont think educated or refined fits the bill. Personally I like an intense place thats not discriminatory Think NYC but less dirty and closed in. Lots of activities. Lots of life during the day and at night but with a decent suburb for later in life
NYC is not dirty lol you letting bozos from flyover states cloud your head
If you moved to riverdale in the Bronx you would love it. Riverdale is where all the rich Jewish people live for cheap. Beautiful homes, luxury rental buildings, clean streets, low crime, dog friendly, lots of local restaurants. Only thing is you’d still have to go to Manhattan for most of your shopping but it’s only 15-25 mins away. My mom lives there and I’d def consider moving there to start a family.
I live in Manhattan and the preppy vibe you’re looking for is here but it only spans a block or two before you realize you’re in a mega city again.
Yes there can be some garbage bags left uncollected in Manhattan and s*** and the subway is a lil run down but there’s 8 million people here. This is the most used subway in the world and the only one that runs 24/7. Upkeep is a nightmare so it is what it is.

It's like one of the most socialist cities in the country. Left wing dominates there politically
Wouldn't say there isn't elitism tho. Very obvious in some neighbourhoods
