I don't wanna hear 35 year old Drake trying to force himself to sound like Over My Dead Body or Headlines. His current style fits where he is at in life and is natural. His rapping is so smooth now. When he's finished, it'll be dope to see how his sound matured through different eras.

Forgot to say the type of songs on there too but what I mean of an uninspired subject matter is in the context of his overall writing over the years. But again I don't personally know what everyone means by that with Views I am just speculating because he didn't seem uninspired in his rapping voice when he actually did some.

it’s a valid critique imo. I feel the same way about Em’s flow after Relapse, Wayne constantly using AutoTune from 2010-2015ish, and even Ye’s iPhone vocals. Drake had one of the best flows and rap styles for years and then switched it for the slower monotone stuff which sometimes works but other times it just makes the song feel meh

Energy matters, though. The lazy flow only works in certain instances and Drake relies too much on it these days (luckily he did do that on CLB and he came with energy on most on the rap songs) so when rappers who never rap with that kind of energy rap with him, their energy is way more than his and even if their lines are weaker, it'll be a more enjoyable listen. I feel that way about Wayne's verse on You Only Live Twice. He isn't saying s*** in the verse but his energy >>>> Drake and Ross' energy on the song.
This pretty much articulates my sentiment with the lazy uninspired flow. With verses on songs like 7AM on Bridle Path, Chicago Freestyle, Seeing Green, and Having Our Way he definitely can give more energy and charisma when he wants to.
He chooses not to on certain songs and verses and I feel like once and awhile the flow is cool to use but he definitely been doing it too much lately or maybe just doing it on the wrong songs? Like I absolutely did not want to hear that on the intro and outro tracks on CLB. And even though I really like this record with benny, I am disappointed he ain't rapping with a little more vigor on it.

I don't think it's a bad beat but like most beats Drake been rapping on lately it definitely should have had more to it. I shouldn't feel like Drake is rapping on YouTube beats.
