Hmmmmm true. But metal did that. Btw metal has like over 50 sub genres and rock has quite a few aswell. With rap I think we have a few core actual sub genres
Conscious Rap
Street Rap
Melodic/Mumble Rap
Lyrical Rap
Drill Rap
Pop Rap(mainstream to the max)
Alternative or expirmental rap
What’s mainstream right now is the melodic/mumble rap or just very fun songs over trap beats. Also street rap has a strong core on YouTube aswell. I don’t think where
Moving tooo fast being the last genre of rap we got was mumble/melody in 2016 and it seems like NY bringing drill back a little. If we had sub genres being on paper it wouldn’t be as much arguments and OGs and old heads saying “hip hop dead” “these kids don’t like bars” etc.
I really wish people would start seperating the genre up so it would be easier to discuss without those "I ONYL LISTEN TO REAL HIPHOP" or "I DONT F*** WITH THST LYRICSL S*** ITS BORING" butting into the conversation
basic as f*** lol, niggas like y'all is why the bar is set so low for this genre
i dont understand the argument for, "basic as f***".
im not gonna hold some different obscure album more highly even if i enjoy it more
im not gonna hand out 10s to every thing
took me four years to bump tlop from a 9 to a 10 despite it being my favorite album of all time

Was just kinda surprised to see some of the albums he had on there since he seems like more of a pop fan.
rt
u gotta realize u were like 13 when this s*** released doing that pac s*** definitely had a different significance to someone who was in their 30’s and from compton like kendrick the only reason you could make this white person argument is because white people will always clamor for any sort of nod towards legacy rappers

That wasn't really related to what he said tbh

doesn't matter, whites are the ones who gas the album, it isnt for them but it's there's
Less artists tend to go in that direction so I’d understand why people would appreciate those type of albums more, especially if they’re good like Big Fish Theory.
That wasn't really related to what he said tbh
what he want me to put in it
common - be
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
Big L - Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous
three six mafia - mystic stylez
tbh if u have like 4 albums from the same artist in ur top 10 albums that list is trash
That wasn't really related to what he said tbh
dude is a re.tard
he literally hid behind a list any casual could throw up and say they're "into" hip hop no nigga it's just in ur tastebin so it looks like you know what ur talking about lol
baella gave like 3 brockhampton albums a 9 and gave ready to die an 8
i gave bh two 9s (it was just one for a long time, but then i realized sat2 deserves the 9 too). but waht if i told you more ktt users rated bh projects higher than i did... even giving em 5 stars
doesn't matter, whites are the ones who gas the album, it isnt for them but it's there's
but shouldn’t we judge an album off who it’s meant for rather than who it reaches

fr, diversity is a blessing
but shouldn’t we judge an album off who it’s meant for rather than who it reaches
I think so. No offense but I can’t take certain white peoples opinion serious on certain hip hop classics
doesn't matter, whites are the ones who gas the album, it isnt for them but it's there's
Yawn
i gave JIK a 9 dumbass

yall can fact check
way too high

i was also gonna say how people give vince props for this exact reason because of big fish theory.

such a great album
but shouldn’t we judge an album off who it’s meant for rather than who it reaches
no, because who it reaches can tell a good deal about what the album is
whites flock to any rap project that's "different" and suck it's d***
Danny Brown is literally the quintessential example of this, he's left field as s*** and hipsters whites whatever adore him and will throw him up as their fav hip hop artist in an attempt to seem sophisticated
