rayrayHmmmmm true. But metal did that. Btw metal has like over 50 sub genres and rock has quite a few aswell. With rap I think we have a few core actual sub genres
Conscious Rap
Street Rap
Melodic/Mumble Rap
Lyrical Rap
Drill Rap
Pop Rap(mainstream to the max)

Moving tooo fast being the last genre of rap we got was mumble/melody in 2016 and it seems like NY bringing drill back a little. If we had sub genres being on paper it wouldn’t be as much arguments and OGs and old heads saying “hip hop dead” “these kids don’t like bars” etc.I really wish people would start seperating the genre up so it would be easier to discuss without those "I ONYL LISTEN TO REAL HIPHOP" or "I DONT F*** WITH THST LYRICSL S*** ITS BORING" butting into the conversation

im not gonna hold some different obscure album more highly even if i enjoy it more
im not gonna hand out 10s to every thing
took me four years to bump tlop from a 9 to a 10 despite it being my favorite album of all time

u gotta realize u were like 13 when this s*** released doing that pac s*** definitely had a different significance to someone who was in their 30’s and from compton like kendrick the only reason you could make this white person argument is because white people will always clamor for any sort of nod towards legacy rappers
