That's problem nowadays since it's become the most popular genre just people who have no knowledge say that __ artist is better than ___ artist that can't even be compared..
Like everyone gets an opinion type s*** nowadays it's just stupid
Idk ralo but 21 is pretty decent in terms of actually rapping. His newest album shows he's actually lyrically pretty decent and has clever wordplay.
Ya some ppl shouldn’t have opinions on s*** they don’t know about
Niggas need to know dis chart
Street rap - NBA YB , Kodak , yungeen ace etcc.
Trap rap - Old migos , Old 21 Savage , Peeweelongway , Young scooter , old GUCCI Mane , Old Young thug (y’all see I keep using “Old” that is becuz trap rap is really dead like the real trap music ) etccc...
This is true. The last actual trap music we seen was Old mixtape migos. Very early future and thug along wit peewee

Yea this problem exist too because there ain’t no sub genre on paper. I hate wen someone be trying to compare Kendrick to a lil uzi. Like both great rappers but totally different styles of rap. Like why even compare lol
White ppl have always been hip-hop consumers, or at least for a good 30 years
The difference is white hip hop heads (and suburbanites more broadly) of the 90s respected hip-hop as a distinct artistic entity with its own sound rules and codes. It was enjoyed for its Otherness (which brings up its own questions but we’ll put that aside for now)
Newer heads seem to have a compulsion to “integrate” hip hop with whatever other Pitchfork fare they enjoy
edit: and to be fair, so do some artists
This is true.
But then even those 90s White Hip Hop heads get s*** on for some reason. There was a thread on here a while back where some people were criticizing why White People liked 90s rap so much lol
The other difference is Hip Hop was profitable back then, but not "#1 most consumed genre" profitable, so there were a lot of White People supporting the genre then, but I'd argue it's increased exponentially now relative to the era.
Integrating Hip Hop into mainstream American culture was always a double edged sword. A lot of these rappers wouldnt be as rich or famous on a mainstrean level without it, but now the dominance of Hip Hop currently gives anyone the right to speak on the music and even the culture, regardless of race, background, or knowledge of the history of the Culture.
But the old heads have always made a distinction between "Rap Music" and "Hip Hop Music/Culture" even decades back when they saw where this was going. They get a lot of heat but they were right.

They call Travis/Carti Trap bruh, this why I can’t take some of their opinions serious
i feel like people think that way because every metric that you can pull data on with hip-hop is heavily influenced by white people
sales/streaming numbers/social media followers/music reviews
most of that stuff is dictated by white people by default because they're the majority
Now you got fellas saying denzel curry and travis scott make trap music
Yea we been seeing “Rodeo best trap album” for 3 years now
i wouldn't say good more so than the ultimate term people use for this.
"creative/different"
but I mean we're gonna merge with a lil bit of everything to create something new until we have what we can mass replicate and churn out hits.
we gotta remember it was Rick Rubin and Run DMC for a while.
it's good to have a mix. but well balanced.
yeah I wonder why kendrick's dropping a rock album
Album cover will be a picture of him licking a pair of boots
Now you got fellas saying denzel curry and travis scott make trap music

Most niggas don’t understand trap meant the subject matter and beats both where trap. Now it’s just people hear the trap beats and call it trap. Can’t even blame half of him for being ignorant. These niggas who started liking rap in 2015
Trap music anything with 808’s and rolling hi hats according to who ever y’all referring to.

tbh i always see this take but theres never an answer to what kind of music they make same with carti
What would you consider Drake? He just a Rap/Hip-Hop artist. That’s what Travis would be or just “mainstream rap” but that term is very wide, so they just another Rap artist. Carti I would call a Soundcloud rapper 🤷🏽♂️ But that’s more of a personal sub-genre I got 🤷🏽♂️
