Fantano always d***rides rappers that use weird eclectic electronic beats

But rarely ever gives an R&B album more than a 7/10

Oh yes he's an idiot tho.

That's the thing with Hip Hop being the number one consumed Genre

You have to let White People become consumers, which gives them a right to voice their opinion about the music, whether it's valid or not.

OP is 100% right, but that's the downside to Hip Hop's rate of consumption level and profitability in music today.

White ppl have always been hip-hop consumers, or at least for a good 30 years
The difference is white hip hop heads (and suburbanites more broadly) of the 90s respected hip-hop as a distinct artistic entity with its own sound rules and codes. It was enjoyed for its Otherness (which brings up its own questions but we’ll put that aside for now)
Newer heads seem to have a compulsion to “integrate” hip hop with whatever other Pitchfork fare they enjoy
edit: and to be fair, so do some artists

it doesn’t mean that it isn’t valid to draw parallels between shoegaze and what cartis doing within the context of hiphop

    Carti def ain makin trap

Only time he was makin trap music was prolly when he was awful and even then barleyyyyy.

Trap is like old 21 savage , Young scooter , some old Future or sum like dat

worse is when people who aren’t comfortable with liking trap music start saying s*** like “carti is making shoegaze”

saw someone say die lit was psychedelic drill the other day lmao

i used to watch fantano in like 2012/2013 and i legit think he fakes scores for views now. the ksg review feels so insincere.

    Idk 😐.

Nigga really be feeling that s*** .

    Sometimes it’s a relatability thing

Tbh I used to rag on a lot of stuff like that but I can understand like there's a time and place for everything

Even that music isn't good in terms of being "rap" it has a purpose for being goofy and partying shenanigans I guess

The problem is lotta people who don't care about the genre hype this trash up to be more than what it is. Seeing comparisons of "lil pump" being better than 2pac is gross

Not gana lie he put me on to some cool music but I never took his opinions serious or cared on real hip hop albums and actual RnB. He doesn’t understand it and that’s fine

If ppl listen to lil pump u shouldn’t take them serious to begin with.

    He doesn’t take himself serious.

I’m talkin more along the lines of like a Ralo or a 21 savage or sum like dat

I really started listening to him when Danny Brown said if Fantano rates you're s*** high you know you made a great album.

and I just wanted to see how his mind worked and what he was looking for. it's a lot of passion in his critique whether good or bad/ white or black/ hiphop or electronic indie pop s***.

definitely not a lot of reviewers matching him in terms of work on youtube or off.

That's problem nowadays since it's become the most popular genre just people who have no knowledge say that __ artist is better than ___ artist that can't even be compared..

Like everyone gets an opinion type s*** nowadays it's just stupid

Idk ralo but 21 is pretty decent in terms of actually rapping. His newest album shows he's actually lyrically pretty decent and has clever wordplay.

Yeah I highly doubt Kendrick was pandering to white critics with a jazz and funk influenced album about black people lol
