think to yourself were the creators or writers of resident evil in anyway involved with this movie? Did they do any press? Did Capcom give their blessings like that. Could they or would they do the movie with Japanese actors or creators or director ?
I dont think this is the love letter to the franchise that you think it is. I think the movie was made with the goal to make money and it succeeded.
No, I don’t think that, I don’t think Zach Cregger needed to be bothered to make this movie in the first place given the success of his last movie.
Maybe from the studios perspective, yeah, like every movie studio in existence, they exist to make money and they fast tracked production to retain the IP, Cregger himself said so himself freely.
If be wanted to make this movie it was now or never and he wanted to make this movie, the whole thing was initiated by him. HE is the one that approached the studio and pitched it in the first place.
The Flood already had a release date before shooting on this movie even started, he could have just jumped straight into that, but he didn’t. He wanted to make this movie when he had the chance.
If you genuinely think Cregger just made this movie to get a cheap buck in and not because he has an actual love for the the series then I don’t know what to tell you. There’s literally nothing I can say to you.

I dont think Cregger made it to make a cheap buck I think Sony knew it would be successful and got it made
its successful and made. This movie will likely be his most financially succesful and most popular movie possibly of his entire career
It already has nearly half of Weapons entire theatrical run . It was a movie made to be highly consumable. which is okay it gains him popularity money and support that helps him in future projects. Not going to win awards but adds to his resume.
I do think Cregger had a good idea in making it the story of a character that doesnt exist in the games. I do like the feeling of this is the story of a note a mainline character would pick up or audio log. I just dont think the execution created a character I cared about. Whether that character was a self insert of a gamer experiencing it or whatever it may be.
That’s fine. It’s completely fine if this movie ultimately just wasn’t for you and what its creative objectives were didn’t align with what you want. That is the inherent nature of a subjective experience.
The problem is that you’re either making up hidden behind the scenes narratives to try to and craft some objective argument to further justify your personal perspective on the movie (which isn’t necessary), or rejecting the inherent premise of it alone and essentially creating an alternative fanfiction-esque version of this movie that was never going to be made because Cregger would have had no interest in making it, and no filmmaker of his caliber would have ever made it.
This is the best crafted Resident Evil movie this franchise could actually ever reasonably hope to get, and at the end of the day, faithfulness to “lore” (of which the studio behind the franchise isn’t even faithful to to begin with), is gonna be trumped by the quality of the movie, because the only thing that really matters is if the movie is quality, which by most metrics it appears to be.
And again, if you don’t like it, it’s fine. People shat all of his previous two flicks in their respective threads as well.

I dont think this is the best resident evil movie we could ever hope to get. I think future resident evil movies in this same universe can improve upon this. I think it is a good start and I am glad it was made. I only think the quality of the movie was so good due to some of the execution of humor that took away from it for me. But to each their own if this is the best resident evil movie or video game movie we get at all. I guess that would be depressing to me. Zelda , Elden Ring, Gears of WAr and more i hope for better but at the end of the day if this is the best "okay" I guess.

It just had quirk chungus humour man. Really dragged it down.
I will when you stop trying to compare this movie to the f***ing Dekalog series.
he was comparing it with what now?
Saw this last night, had a great time! Im surprised Cregger said he cut out a lot of jokes in the movie, since it was alot of them in the version he released
The ending didnt really bother me
Nigga said Welcome to Raccoon City is better than this
I don't even think that movie is terrible (like Return to Silent Hill) but saying it's better than this film is nonsense

No it did not man
I think y'all just despise comedy in movies truly
Evil Dead 2 IS for Reddit hipsters, it’s probably the most Reddit hipster coded horror movie of all time.
It’s like the horror equivalent to Monty Python.
Ban op wtf
Ban op wtf
Why? I love Evil Dead 2, but if you’re gonna go down the “Reddit coded” route Evil Dead 2 would fit that dumbass label.
