Doesn’t change like Minecraft or Mario movie it’s worth it to get more game movies and better shots at it
I get loving the movie I get yall cregger fans . I get hating the fervent game fans who are unreasonable . But some of you are being intellectually dishonest when this movie didn’t need to be called resident evil to accomplish its same story . It truly didn’t . The idea of searching in a house , finding ammo , a typewriter when the soul of the game is more than that or rapid fire jokes .
I expected at least ONE transition on a fixed perspective camera between two rooms. If you remove the Umbrella mentions, the padlock gag and the typewriter you've basically erased everything RE about this film, unless I missed some easter egg

There are parts of hokum and hope that feel more resident evil than this entire movie . This movie wasn’t scary . Wasn’t disturbing . Wasn’t that tense . Was only so close up and as I said creature design okay but the flash to first person or occasional light third person shot but not closer really wasn’t doing a whole lot for me . Even if they didn’t want to do certain things with main character they had opportunities to develop other characters more or world and just decided not to . The biggest moments action wise or with infected wise they used money on really were underwhelming or in some cases like the roof scene which they basically showed all of in a state of play snd nearly lead to Abram’s death / reminded me of resurrections could have been cut from movie nothing lost . Sewer scene too . It didn’t add much to a movie with an already short runtime
It’s a 2 hour movie that some how feels longer because the plotting is very predictable

I feel like there was too many tie ins throughout for it not to be called resident evil. Like you’d have to cut out chunks of this for it to be its own thing imo

A lot of the tie ins feel like they were added just to be like “ here damn “ to me though is what I’m getting at

The movie is 80 minutes excluding credits

I feel you. I need to watch it again whenever it’s on VOD to really see ig.
Just feels like some of the story beats and characterizations would have to be changed for it to not be an RE movie. But some of the stuff at the same time felt a tad forced.
The girlfriend plot line dealing with forming a family . Him telling her she would be a good mom . Him wanting to stay alive and not telling others he is infected in hopes they cure him to see his daughter . The monsters all being representative of a family unit . Literally going in a maternity ward . Can you be for real for a moment . It’s not often kids are killed on camera in a movie of you feel nothing when a child is shot in the head I worry about your sanity
None of this is the film trying to have an emotional core
I HATE when people say “it’s not that deep” because it’s dismissive, but for a movie like this… it really is not that deep
It’s an 80 minute horror comedy zombie romp. You’re in and you’re out. All of these diatribes about the film’s emotional weight, character decisions, and backstories are just unnecessary for a movie like this. The film is not trying to be anything more than what it’s presenting as
We need to question where we are as a film fanbase if we’re having discussions about the emotional center of a RESIDENT EVIL movie
Like guys come on
As I get older I realize that you get more enjoyment out of art when you start judging each individual thing for what it’s trying to be, rather than worrying about how many boxes it checks off for the preconceived criteria of what makes art good

I literally listed reasons why I felt that the way I did and rather than respond to them you just said “ nuh uh “ then you were so uncertain in what you believed you edited it
@twitch brother what has this forum become

so what was the goal of the plot point about having a family , abortion , shooting a little girl in the face , walking through a maternity ward
Does art just wash over you with no messaging at all ? Thinking that has no emotion charged to it has all the makings of a sociopath

S*** isn’t dawn of the dead baby . There is purposefully a story about abortion and being a mom / father central to the plot of the movie and it’s a huge reason he wants the cure and for them to inject him at the movies end

Facts. There’s no way at all that Zach did all those things as pure coincidence.
He could’ve removed all those things and the plot remains the same. He added it in for the purpose of having some type of emotional depth to the story.
Seated
Solid movie. Give it a 8/10. Laughed a couple of times. First person views was fire and some scenes had that RE vibe. AA played the role well
