His last album was the first thing hes done that’s wasn’t universally praised(because Latinos want reggaeton, not experimental hipster music) and he hasn’t handled it well. Going on an IG live basically telling fans to grow up and evolve their musical tastes lol hes also said a few controversial things lately like he never wants PR to be a state and now this. Will be interesting to see his next move.
Considering how s*** the US has treated PR, no one should blame him for wanting PR to be its own independent nation especially when he directly criticized the closing of schools and the lack of aid during and after the hurricane

I mean PR is basically a US neo-colony. Independence is the correct choice, it’s not like the US helps them with s*** anyway and they shouldn’t be beholden to the interests of US imperialism.

It’s not niche lol. He came in when every reggaeton artist was trying to make trap music. He brought back the classic reggaeton sound and has done well in creating his own sound.
