They wouldn't advertise RDJ as doom if he wasnt the actual villain. Marvel wouldnt play those games. Plus marvel will go for whatever is still the general audience draw. Which is rdj

This would backfire though.
Casting RDJ was a choice purely made for nostalgia purposes, driving casual audiences back to the theater for a recognizable name with star power after a few shaky years for the MCU.
If the big twist was that RDJ’s Doom is killed early in the movie and the new Doom is revealed, that would be leaked as early as the film was screened for the press for early reviews, if not then, then as soon as the film opened on Thursday night.
A twist like that would be seen as cheap and would drive casuals who barely had any interest in the MCU anymore as it is completely away from the film

And even more so than them (although the russo’s ability to pull off infinity war/end game shouldn’t be scoffed at) is the infinity war/endgame writers coming back
We aren’t getting Michael Waldron/Jeff Loveness rick and morty television writers coming in to write a thousand drafts of the same script.
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely managed to culminate 10 years of MCU movies, provide tiny arcs and pay offs for every character, they knew which team ups made the most sense thematically, they basically gave us that version of Thanos. They’ve given us most peoples fav MCU stuff when it comes to most characters. I have faith in them being able to finesse something with what’s on the board rn
even if the 2020-2026 mcu plotlines haven’t really given them much to go off
