marvel has had such a fall off i feel like pop culture has moved away from them post-Endgame. it will be a herculean task to get audiences back to their good graces.

sure this will probably do well in box office but i don't see how this won't be a jumbled mess of a film. part course-correction, part nostalgia bait is all i see at this point.

They dipped into streaming slop shows

Which makes s*** not eventful anymore.

  • The general plot sounds like something only James Cameron could pull off tbh

Yup. Star Wars also made the same mistake.

But also ALOT of blame falls on Disney . They pretty much forced Marvel to increase their output by making them produce shows for Disney+

You’re exactly correct. Same strategy ruined Star Wars

Woudn't go that far. The first 2 seasons of Mandalorian were great and brought a lot of good will back to Star Wars. They just started creating unnecessary spin offs of it. We didnt need Boba Fett back, he should have stayed dead. Ashoka should have stayed as an animated show. Then they wanted a Cara Dune show Rangers of the New Republic.

Andor was also a great show.

I think Star Wars issues lies more with the sequel trilogy itself rather than the TV shows.

How did the sequel trilogy do financially?

Did they come out before streaming shows?

How did the latest Star Wars movie do in theaters after all the streaming shows?

Yea but after the Rise of Skywalker there was def some fatigue and frustrations with the brand. They never capitalized off of things that TLJ setup which made that movie look bad in retrospect as well.

Yeah that movie sucked so much ass.

    Loved TLJ

But when you throw your event level brand at people and give them instant access then your s*** doesn’t become event level anymore.

I don't think dipping into streaming shows in concept deflates the hype

I think what killed them is the shows they chose and the frequency

I think in 2021 and 2022 there was literally new Marvel content weekly for practically a whole year and a lot of the shows were elongated movies.

I think their current approach to streaming as it is today is what it should've been from the jump. Smaller scale shows focusing on characters not in the movies but still in the universe (or outside of it).

    The 2021 lineup was this:
    WandaVision (January - March)
Falcon & The Winter Soldier (March - April)
    Loki (June - July)
    Black Widow (July 9)
    What If (August - October)
    Shang Chi (September 3)
Venom 2 (kind of counts, October)
    Eternals (November 5)
    Hawkeye (November - December)
    No Way Home (December)

Literally new Marvel content almost every week in 2021. I personally was basking in it but looking at it now, that's A LOT.

Today? It's still a lot in comparison to pre streaming BUT, I think it's more balanced.

    2026:
    Wonder Man (January)
Daredevil Season 2 (March - May)
    Punisher (May)
    X-Men '97 S2 (July - August)
    Brand New Day (July)
    Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Fall)
    VisionQuest (October)
    Doomsday (December)

It's still a lot but not ALL of it is key to Doomsday and not all of it is in the main MCU. Whereas in 2021, they made it seem like everything was vital, including What If

they are definitely trying to correct their mistake.

I guess we'll see how doomsday does in comparison to their prestreaming movies

but I have a feeling I know how it will go
