Might dare to say Dune is currently WBs tenthpole franchise. Even replacing DC.
A lot of people are starting to call it this generation’s Lord of the Rings
Dune 1 made 411 million in theaters during peak COVID when it was also day and date on HBO Max
Dune 2 ended up making 715 mil which is higher than every Marvel movie since No Way Home with the exception of Deadpool 3 and Thor 4
You take IMAX away from Avengers and Dune being better means more losses for Marvel
I still fully understand that Doomsday will make more regardless, but Marvel is losing out on even more by keeping this on the same date as Dune
Dune 2 made less than f***ing Thor 4, an absolutely horrible movie.
You guys are underplaying the popularity of the actual Avengers.
As long as they keep the actual Avengers+Deadpool and X-Men in the forefront of marketing, people will flock to theatres.
Doomsday might shift but even if they don't, it won't change a whole lot.

You can not downplay the quality of things. Black adam in paper seemed like a billion dollar golden ticket for DC yet it ended up flopping. Dune and avengers have some overlapping audience and at the end of the day if dune is better they will defo go and see that.

You're missing something
Thor 4 was riding off the goodwill of Ragnarok and Endgame being his last two appearances. Love and Thunder made almost 100 million LESS than Ragnarok even though it opened $22 million higher in opening weekend.
I could honestly under the right conditions see Dune 3 hitting a billi
Again, I never said Dune will make more than Doomsday, but Marvel would be leaving money on the table leaving Doomsday in this spot

I don’t think people are arguing with you that Dune will absolutely smash Avengers in the box office
But saying no one is really checking for Dune except online circles is just not right.
Dune is seen as our modern fantasy epic

Thats wild because lord of the rings was a real phenomenon.
Dunes not on that level

Black Adam did not look like a billion dollar grosser in any way tf, only good thing about the movie was hearing the Ye songs in theaters.
Everybody expected it to flop, movies with villains as leads haven't done well apart from Venom and Joker 1.

I didn't say that, I said only people in online circles will prefer it over Avengers cause of the hate boner they've developed for Marvel.

NOBODY expected that to flop. Once word of mouth got around nobody wanted to see that.

Its not a hate boner man. Its pretty simple, good product=consume, bad product = not consume

S*** looked like a mid 2000s superhero movie, idk if you were there but everyone expected it to flop. I only went to watch it cause I had nothing better to do that day.

Plus those hierarchy memes or whatever, the movie was being looked at as a joke and was gonna be trash.

It doesn’t need to be as big as LOTR in order to be compared to it imo.
They are comparable in terms of scale, world building, 3 hour big budget epics, and slow burn storytelling . Not to mention they both adapt HIGHLY influential material from the 1950s and 60s
We haven’t seen anything quite like it since LOTR
I’m still absolutely looking forward to seeing Doomsday though and I’m anticipating the first trailer
Yall are forgetting the amount of money from kids and with characters people actually give a f*** about back . Yes dune imax going to do crazy numbers but so is doomsday
There is absolutely no way that this is releasing without IMAX
The only thing is: will they push it UP or DOWN? Unfortunately, I can see this getting pushed into 2027, but hoping it gets bumped up
