just watch them all in the lead up to secret warsSecret Wars is being touted as “a new beginning” for Marvel by the Russo Bros. so I think it makes more sense to do the big leadup into Doomsday which seems like it will be more of a closing chapter

Obviously, but your enjoyment & understanding of everything will be much better if you have prior knowledge of the film.
There is not a single comic book film ever that you can watch isolated and not understand, because all of them quickly brief the audience into what’s going on and what the stakes are within the first 30 minutes. These are big budget blockbusters, they’re always gonna make it to where anyone can understand what’s happening.
But that’s never been the argument when it comes to “required viewing” for a shared universe, I said the same thing in the DC thread
