will never understand the praise eren gets the best characters on AOT are easily levi, erwin, hange, and pre-timeskip armin

I havent finished it all since im anime only but of those you listed only erwin and armin are close to eren's level for me. I love hange and levi, especially hange, but they arent close to the complexity of the 3 i mentioned (so far), although they're still great overall. This is imo isayama's biggest weakness as a writer in this story specifically, but maybe this was due to him wanting to wrap the story up in 139 chapters.

feel like eren is very overhyped due to his sudden change in character in the time skip. i wont spoil anything but i think his motivations and his whole thing about "free will" is bs especially when you read the ending

Tbh upon rewatch eren wasnt that annoying in seasons 1-3 and was already a pretty good character. Mikasa was way more annoying, especially in season 1

Man this episode was so good.

Just wish they didn't get lazy with some of the stills rather than animations.

People find Eren compelling because how of much of a tragic character he really is.

He commits unforgivable acts of violence - which completely remove him from the "hero" ideal ppl first instilled in him, but at the same time the tragic element of his whole arc makes it difficult to completely despise him.

Mikasa, to me, always stood out as a very underwritten character. Yeah her action scenes are badass but that isn't enough to make a compelling character.

I absolutely agree, its the only criticism i can give aot without being too nitpicky. But she has her moments: in season 1 when eren was eaten until he transformed, around when eren activated the founding titan powers in season 2 and in ep 1 and 2 of this season. All of these had a great mikasa moment in them, but compared to Eren and armin its nothing

If there's one thing we can all agree on is that both wit and mappa went ham on animating eyes, i swear aot characters got some amazing, expressive pupils

Literally the only complaint I would have is that I wished they showed the trajectory of Eren’s head from the air into Zeke’s hand a bit more like they did in the manga.

But even then the way they did everything from Gabi’s shot to entering PATHS looked great.
