But young adults under 30 are the age group most likely to head to the cinema, according to the poll... 54% of Gen Z-ers surveyed said they want “an experience I can’t get at home.”
Older folks are more likely to have nicer in home theatres compared to younger people who are mostly renters/living with roommates void of fancy in home setups. This is one factor but doesn't explain the whole picture. Could it be that boomers are more likely to watch random slop films on streaming that don't necessitate an in-theatre experience, busier with other hobbies, and may also be more fearful of random crowds of strangers? What other reasons come to mind? Anecdotally there's an indie theatre downtown where I live that's always packed with retirees, I love to see it even though they can be annoying sometimes
Older people like TV's and staying comfy in the couch. Especially poorer folks. They don't give af about sound and visual experience.

i think its a holdover from renting movies. Having a Movie Night was more of an event than like just finding something on a streaming service

My guy, Netflix isn’t going to “own” the Trump administration if they buy WB. Trump is far from the first and far from the last authoritarian piece of s*** that is going to run this country. He’s just another shady leader.
What is a serious and long lasting change that threatens the world is the erasure of the theatrical system. And that matters far more to me than having another piece of s*** leader as if the last 3 presidents weren’t all dogshit also

The issue isn't that young people don't go to the movies. It's that they go to events for IP, sequels, franchises. Nobody is concerned about the longevity of those things. It's the rest of the movie climate. Besides horror I guess.
