I think one thing we all can agree on is that Warner Bros. should not have been sold at all. Especially after the year they had.

I think that I don't really care about the politics part as much as the cannibalism of the medium part. Like at all

Like, everyone who's a CEO is Republican already, I feel like I can say that without much doubt, so I don't care about the trump part because that's intrinsic to the whole "corporate film studio/production pipeline" setup anyway. And in the same breath, I'm sure Saudi money or whatever "bad man" money you want to attach to a nation (i.e. Israel) is already being pumped and funnelled thru this system anyway. That doesn't really move me and I don't think that paramount acquisition would've changed much besides just being a bullshit monopoly, at least in regards to the counterpoints presented

Like I think assuming political influence just isn't present on one side of the fence, and only present on the other, is a tad naive. Movie studios follow the social trends of the audience/zeitgeist regardless, in accordance with (or against) political trends too

The industry and the country survived the McCarthyism era of Hollywood. It would survive Trumpism. I’m not sure the industry can survive Netflix

Yeah I don't even understand how that makes sense after building up so much good will. But I remember them saying zaslavs main goal was to "right the ship to prep it for sale/acquisition" so....

4 seasons of aunt Gladys prequel series that's blue-lit, hazy, and she doesn't earn her witch powers until the last season

fr. why is WB selling anyway? why can't it just pull itself by its bootstraps and do better?

Where is condomeyes when you need him

  • Mfers like Zaslav just fail and fall into gold over and over again

Crazy how you can have an absolute s*** asset in discovery, merger with an entertainment staple and powerhouse

Almost speed run completely f***ing the company and somehow still leave on a “win”

All while restructuring everything in the background to give you massive pay raises in the event of a sale

    I agree....

but they spent these years pressuring Abdy and De Luca for successful films, hiring Gunn for DC, etc... so that these would be attractive pieces that would eventually be sold lol.

They never even figured out how to run the company. WBD is again splitting into two in the spring. Never solved any of their financial problems either

Zaslav is really the worst CEO ever. His parting gift, after cancelling one peak show after another, and removing quality shows from the platform entirely for no reason, was completely ruining the cinematic experience by selling to niggas who hate theaters.

All Zaslav did was largely reallocate debt and give himself massive raises

    Old Man Robin

All Zaslav did was largely reallocate debt and give himself massive raises

And now getting the shareholders (and himself) huge paydays

He did exactly what he was placed there to do, and might still keep a cozy studio head job at the end of it all.
