Like I said before, even if Drake is better than Ye now, Ye's prime from 04-16 and, hell, even KSG and Donda to a lesser extent is cemented in history already. He can retire for good and still be able to live off of that prime just like Eminem can live off of 99-03, 50 can live off of 02-07, and Jay can retire in peace too.

Ye and JIK were mid and Vultures likely will be mid but most mainstream rappers have dropped a mid album at one point including Drake himself so it's no big deal.

Nas and Jay-Z dropped up to 3 mid albums in their lifetime. As did Wayne and Eminem.

It's par for the course if you've in been the industry long.

And that's lowkey what's confusing me about these Ye vs. Drake stan wars. I couild understand if Drake in 2023 was dropping groundbreaking or Earth shattering music that was indicative of him entering a new prime that rivaled 09-15 but he's not.

There's tons of rappers dropping better music than Drake rn. He just has big numbers on his side.

Drake is better than Kanye in 2023 in the same vein that Usher was better than Michael Jackson in 2001 when Invincible dropped and that was viewed as a dud(in the U.S.).

People are just too caught up in the moment and stan wars.

Kanye, Eminem, and Jay-Z are too cemented in hip hop history for a mid album to make people brush them off and rewrite history about their legacies. Even 50 is cemented despite not lasting anywhere as long. Niggas didn't say "Man...fuck 50" over time just because Animal Ambition was pure trash.

Even MJ's music catalog survived the decades of the pedo/molestation allegations that are still around today. Thriller is on the B200 as I text this post.

If anything, newer artists like DaBaby, Roddy Rich, etc. are at bigger risks of having people writing off their musical legacies due to not being fully established yet.

The majority of rappers surpassed Kanye as a personality. The bar for that in 2023 is lower than a limbo though lol.

But, as a music artist with quality/creative music, only Kendrick, Tyler, Denzel, Little Simz, Peggy, and some other rappers are in the convo of surpassing Ye as an artist.

Drake's the numbers guy which is a different convo altogether. If it's strictly a numbers discussion without factoring in music quality, then no rapper in history is surpassing Eminem. Dude still remains the best selling artist in the genre as well as the most famous OAT alongside Pac.
