you being deadass?
Yeah. If you follow the internet whether it’s YouTube or Twitter you could see this scene building for a while now.
And I’m not hating on the artists. They make dope music. But all the people saying Clipse and Freddie AOTY are mostly NFR podcast types. Gibbs and JID also been huge Reddit artists for a minute
And there’s still a whole separate rap fanbase that doesn’t listen to any of that and only listens to the younger dudes. So it’s hard to call it a shift but I feel like you’re just noticing this other pocket of fans

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPX-BOhCNrQHit play and had to listen to the whole thing.

My initial statement was also based off real life too not just the internet if anything white fans of rap I’ve encountered in the 25-30 age group are more so fans of rappers like carti, baby, & yachty

That’s wild tbh maybe the shift is starting. I still mostly see Clipse and Gibbs love on the internet at this point but maybe you’re on to something

I think the "shift" people are talking about is how dry mainstream rap has been this year which has caused people to pay more attention to the Indie, underground, or legacy act albums.
In 2022, we were fed very well but rap had more mainstream dominance on the radio and Billboard back then which made things feel more segmented.
But I was bumping albums from many of the same artists OP named on top of Denzel, Vince, Lupe, Black Thought, Benny, Black Star, Logic(yes....he dropped a dope one), Boldy James, Little Simz, and many more.
Because rap was more dominant though, the niggas who were digging through the digital crates and those who were mainly focusing on mainstream s*** were more separated compared to today.
Now, even Drake is having trouble making his new hits stick and it's been pretty dry in the mainstream overall which gives people more time to focus on other types of rap. A very similar thing happened in 2014 too.

HARDCORE, HAAAARrDcORE,

People want good albums again regardless of what the charts say
We’ve had some really good music lately, but people who die by billboard would say otherwise because they only listen to bloated stream slop
Clipse not to far behind?
0 females at they shows is crazy
they had @ least 3 who got lost in the crowd
Heavyweight is carti right now. Guys like yeat, lil baby, gunna, future still. Even lil uzi of course and Travis Scott
Uzi sold 59k with EA
Gunna sold 80k with The Last Wun
Lil Baby sold 70k less than his last album (with bad reception)
And nobody takes Yeat seriously as an artist outside of hypebeast niggas.
Future, Carti, and Travis are the few niggas that can probably survive the next 5 years.
And with Trav, Idk if he'll be able to continue finessing the machine any longer
Right now has the potential for a shift but life/culture is so fragmented that we’ll probably never see a cohesive movement or era ever again. The lifespan of even some of the best albums of this year is about a week and then it dissipates unless you’re a dedicated fan of the artist.

Yeah. This is more about how listeners have been conditioned to not sit with albums.
I do think it’s starting to correct itself as labels and artists see the downfall of this trend mainly from subscription based music consumption.
