No.
Coachella GA this year was about $600
Over 160 artists on the bill
That averages out to literally about $4 per artist
Resell prices are not the festival's fault, and the only reason they skyrocketed this year is because Bieber is headlining

Coachella 2010 had ~150 artists and tickets were significantly cheaper, even adjusted for inflation. See page 1

Yes, but the industry of live music has gotten more expensive in general, and $600 for 160 artists is still abnormally cheap. There are some artists whose own solo tours cost more than that for a floor seat
I still go to local shows in NYC but f*** anything at like Madison Square Garden and festivals are totally out of the question
NIN tickets were $250+ for s*** seats last time they played here so imagine the prices on the good ones

Has it really got more expensive or just more profitable? There are a lot of trends that would theoretically be driving costs down/profits up: lower audience expectations for performances, monopolisation of the industry, more refined marketing, etc.
It may be more expensive for venues who went into debt during COVID and now need to pay it off. Which, to your point, would apply to solo tours, who book those venues - but it wouldn't really apply to open-air festivals.
Music industry publications continually refer to Coachella as the "most profitable" festival but ofc they will not make the exact figures public
Yes the USSR was producing the most caviar ever in the history of the planet Earth... but nobody was eating it because your kulak grandparents never mentioned it. 🤓🤓
There ARE actually mentions in that comment section of prices, people buying tins of caviar for 50 kopecks, 1.5 rubles, a wide variance of prices. Without the year this is useless info though as you can't compare to modern prices. You think they would be putting it in school lunches if it was expensive and exclusive?
Lol, dude, if they were kulak they would mention it lol. Can you actually copy those comments, I don't see them at all. Apple produces tons of iPhones and MacBooks, does it mean that everyone can afford them in America?
Normal people are being priced out of everything lol
Facts. I got priced out of wwe shows lmao

this is stupid on more than one level
Ordinary people are being priced out of a lot of things... but instead of accepting that most will just take on debt while they pretend they can still afford it
yes, ticket master has a monopoly that even artists dont like - hopefully the efforts to break it upp going on rn actually goes thru
"chicken nuggets with caviar"
