we don’t have benchmarks yet but the M2 should have a nice gap in single core

sure things that peg all the cores will run faster but lots of plugins / VSTs I use never touch more than a single core so making stems would be faster on the M2

but yeah the M1 Max is better for video and things

the base M1 vs M2 are both so fast though I doubt you would notice much difference if you aren’t doing things that don’t push them
if you just go on some websites and use a few light apps probably is barely noticeable

M2 is just the M1 but tweaked a bit
M3 will probably be built on the new ARM architecture and the changes in performance will be pretty big

How compatible is the M1 right now in terms of apps? Still at uni and I probably need some apps that haven’t been upgraded regularly, is there a chance I can run them on ARM and a visualizer? What about Windows apps?

So most of the apps used on the intel chips can be run on the apple silicon using Rosetta

For windows apps you need to run a VM ngl. Wine doesn’t work on M1 from what I know.
