The only difficult part is how to go about instituting the necessary prison reforms

With my “side” out of the question, I have a proposal for abortion that might appease both sides for anyone willing to compromise.

Under my proposal, a woman would be entitled to one normal pregnancy abortion in her lifetime. Seeing that everyone makes mistakes but should learn from it after the first time and if they don’t then leaving them with responsibility of raising the child or alternative means like adoption etc.

Obviously this disincludes abortion for extreme reasons like proven rape, etc.

I believe that we should preserve life but I also believe that people make mistakes and should be entitled to one “get me out of jail free” on this issue.

To add to it, to make it fair for the father, I’d also include that a man would have a one time offering of not paying child support if he chooses to not want responsibility of the child, since a man cannot abort alone. This again would be a one time “get out of jail free” thing. Any child thereafter you’d have to either have custody or pay support to who has custody as you should be held responsible if you make the same mistake twice.

This preserves life while still honoring the fact that people make mistakes.

Again it doesn’t all the way give pro choice people what they want but it also doesn’t give pro life people want they want either, it’s a fair compromise.

I believe that regardless of have extreme we feel, compromise is the only true answer to progression.

Prison reform is the most black and white topic and even that isn’t. You can’t just free all black people who committed non violent offenses just because they’re Black. You have to look at every single individual story and tale and see whether the person is fit for a second chance or to see if they were or potentially could be a threat to society.

It’s a lot more complex than just expunging Marijuana sentences.
