Whoever drops between Jan. 2nd and Jan. 15th is gonna maximize their sales with the new streaming boost while YouTube still counts
Watch Lawbriana drop
tbh if apple did stream counts to billboard could go away and people wouldnt miss it.
I don’t know why they don’t. Like we all know already that their userbase is way smaller than Spotify’s it’s not some big secret, just share the numbers
Idk why people say this. YouTube is better for discovering music than any other service. And it's not even close.
you must have better luck then me my homepage stays the same for 2 weeks unless i go and click "not interested in this s***"
Of course the first major album this change affects is Don’t Be Dumb, that album can’t catch a break man

Mannnn I really don’t like the premise this flirts with, paid streams should absolutely be worth more than free streams
How?
That's a good question
The UI is better. You click through songs and recommendations with view data right there. You can put a lot of personality in a thumbnail.
The algorithm seems less restrictive. I get suggested stuff that I don't think I would have heard of otherwise. That rarely happens on autoplay. Especially with obscure/old/weird stuff.
The threshold of having made a music video usually filters out the lowest effort stuff that you run into just going in blind elsewhere.
I think Spotify, Apple etc having relationships with labels really narrows all of that. YouTube is more like Bandcamp with better quality control re: you had to actually make a music video. They don't really seem to care what you're watching as long as you are watching, and their algorithm reflects that.
So music vids have literally no meaning anymore
music videos were a thing before streaming. its a form of art. dont dumb it down

I know but thats how it'll be for many of our rappers tho

Name some artists who resonate without visuals
And YouTube still pays out for those views
