A lot of anime do this abuser parent trope and eventually the child is supposed to be the bigger person and forgive their parent

I remember it from Your Lie In April, Assassination Classroom, Clannad After Story and I'm sure there are more

Not all parents deserve forgiveness. It's not necessary for closure.

I keep forgetting Tokyo Revengers is middle school kids.

    This s*** the most unrealistic….

Edit: Man, Takemichi is a grown man in a kids body how is he still dumber than the middle school kids?

So I thought of a simple fix for the plot:

Just make Takemitchy have a "That's So Raven" future prediction power instead of making him a time traveler.

    • It's stupid that adult Takemitchy has a childlike mind, gets repeatedly outsmarted by children and has a crush on his childhood crush while she's 14 (super weird). Making him a regular 14 year old child with a psychic ability solves all of this. He's a stupid good hearted child who can predict the future and wants to save his girl. Yay so simple.
    • Despite being a time traveler Takemitchy doesn't use the power of hindsight (because he's so stupid). By making it a That's So Raven scenario, it would make sense he only has glimpses of information about what's supposed to happen and sometimes things won't happen like he expects them to. (This is unlike being able to come back to the future, search everything that happened and therefore be ready for everything which he doesn't do).

I think it's the viewer's choice to forgive Endeavor.

I don't think you're "supposed" to do anything after seeing it.

This would fix a lot tbh. I don’t know why the setting even needs to be middle school as well. Like these dudes are 12 yrs old starting a whole actual gang with politics and violence and s***.

Bro if I’m getting outsmarted by middle schoolers I don’t deserve to accomplish whatever I’m trying to. Their brains not even developed fully and they making you their b****.

It seems like Todoroki's character arc would be to forgive Endevour. If that happens it sends a message to the audience that an abusive parent can be redeemed.

Obviously we like to see anti heroes redeemed but the only thing that seems to change him is that he's the number one hero, which seems really shallow.

It's cool that they don't forgive him immediately but if he, like, dies or he saves a family member and they forgive him that's lame. This obviously wouldn't fix anything. I'd respect it more if we see him make an effort to change and not just say he changed.

I think the reason the setting is middle school is that middle schoolers could self insert themselves in Takemitchy and pretend to be in a cool gang.

Would've made more sense as a high school though.

I just want an anime about a smart guy who goes back to the past and just acts smart and uses hindsight idk I feel like it would've been more interesting.

Especially if they want to make Kisaki this smart devious villain. It seems like he can get Takemitchy killed any minute now and that Takemitchy is just very lucky.

of course lol but anime in general just isn’t a medium suited for overthinking, especially the ones like Tokyo Revengers that are made with a teenage audience in mind
