Yeah exactly, and also making light win would go against the message the story is trying to portray. Not to mention ryuk making a callback to the beginning of the story when he told light he wouldnt help him if he was dying, which at the end light ironically expected since he was so deep into his god complex. Beatufully poetic, one of the few things i think death note executed perfectly, it couldnt have ended in any other way imo
