Anime of the season contender tbh. This s*** is nice. It's not new, but it does the formula really well.

Black Clover pushed the magic school genre back by a decade, but with Mashle and this new series, we’re finally making progress again

Finally got the time to binge through the mono season so far, I mean its the goat, peak, based, kino, what else is there to say

Haven't posted all that much in a minute so my random season impressions rn are

OnK - That ed fade-in every single week

ToG - I'm not mad at the show for being bad, I'm mad at myself for thinking it wouldn't be

ATRI - Is anyone else watching this/has anyone played it? I'm interested in where its going but at the same time feel like I should just drop it and play the game

Makeine / Elusive Samurai - Super fire

Days with my stepsister - I kinda love the way some of these episodes have been put together. I'm fully invested at this point.

Also finished rahxephon, def not an instant classic imo, but I loved the art style and OST

I would call it a mix of Eva and OG Gundam but it doesn't do anything as well as those shows. Leaves a lot just kinda hanging out there. Still enjoyable though

Manga, read mixed things about the anime like Asta being on a constant screaming tirade and also the anime has been on hiatus for like 3 yrs now

You should watch Wistoria: Wand and Sword. It reminds me of Black Clover and Harry Potter a lot.

Dropped ATRI early on cause I was watching too many shows, premise seemed somewhat interesting but considering that its on the shorter side of VNs for length I think I’d rather just add this to my backlog of VNs that I would probably never get to.

Monogatari and Losing Heroines my favourite this seasons. I love the tone of the start of this new Monogatari arc and I'm a sucker for the whole gothic aesthetic; theres already a post on the previous page but I took so many screenshots

I was kinda hoping they change the ED song for Monogatari though cause Yaosobi playing at the end of this last episode didn’t fit at all lmao. If I had a dollar for every time a Yaosobi song didn’t match the anime I think I’d have like… 3 dollars now idk?

Gimai is actually cooking like crazy and is the reason why over the last couple years I've started to jump on over to the directing > animation bandwagon.

The show has basically no animation whatsoever but Ueno's ability to convey information through visual imagery is really impressive as a debut director. The show is arthouse as f***, I wouldn't be surprised if Ueno has legitimately watched and was inspired arthouse films given his apparent strong grasp on the techniques and aesthetics of the genre.

Really looking forward to Ueno's next work that hopefully won't have the same production restraints.
