Teenagers on Twitter are sayin this movie is bad cuz there’s GASP rape scenes and she’s constantly being manipulated lol. If only there was some sort of rating system that told people a movie had explicit material not intended for everyone.

It’s more-so about using an actual persons life in the narrative. Monroe mentioned not wanting her life to be turned into something it’s not after she died, not wanting movies about her and for her life not to be turned into a joke
The movie is a fiction and not hiding that fact, however
This s*** has rape scene, cgi fetuses, threesomes, abortions, childhood murder attempts, miscarriages etc. Drudging up the life of a woman who did face a lot of hardships (and did a lot to not let them define her) for a movie that is so unempathetic towards her is kinda weird. It’s like a compassionless, pain spectacle with a real person at the forefront of it.
She did a lot of great things and fought to not be a victim, while the film seems to love making her one
And you have the director saying no one actually likes monroe movies and other off colour comments.
People ARE treating this film like it’s Serbian film or cannibal holocaust or something though
which is hilarious and may be giving it too much credit
I think people fell in love with the idea of Marylin more than the person herself. Like romanticizing a caricature of a person

What’s all the hype about this white woman anyways? I still don’t get it

Judging from what I’ve read from the director, his mission was to make people see the side of her no one knew. And i haven’t seen the movie yet but i read the summary and it’ll prolly do that. It’s obvious that the movie is supposed to make u uncomfortable and it’s jus funny that folks are goin this crazy over some girl that died 70 years ago or whatever. Like it’s obvious to me it’s Twitter finding something to be mad abt but that’s jus me

marilyn is literally ALWAYS reduced to a s***symbol and a tragedy tho. he's not bringing anything new to the table, since this is the overarching narrative people paint of her all the time. he's just perpetuating this to new extremes. it's a necrophilic obsession.
focusing on her actual life, her career, her politics and her choices would've been the original and fresh decision, but he was very adamant about only focusing on suffering:
am i trippin or does this movie not flow at all? Just seems like they keep randomly showing moments of Marylins life
oral sex
was she sucking d\*\*\* or getting her labia ate? Do they show ana actually doing it orrr

Guys Rock

It’s got terrible pacing. And Ana De Armas is all mask, no humanity. It feels phony.

Bro really had Chastain
just got home from work and bout to finish this (about 30 minutes left)
guess im alone on here on thinking this is incredible
best movie of the year imo
I really wanted to come in here, calling this a divisive, misunderstood masterpiece. But it’s just super on the nose, to the point where nothing feels believable, and I’m bored.
