i haven't watched any episodes, but i just watched this clip
it looks like some budget tv show?? or is it just this clip. the whole cinematography looks crap

In a LOTR mood again after watching mr Sunday movies cover The hobbit . Episode 1 let’s do this
This show would not be that bad if Galadriel wasn’t so damn unlikeable
She's like the only character I care about tbh. That intro in the frozen mountains was rad then the show fell off.
Oh the dwarves are cool too I guess but that storyline has gone nowhere.

The pacing and dialogue is the problem.
This s*** kinda mid it seems like whenever any of the main characters are in trouble they just solo a room of ppl that have them surrounded with no problem. Being held prisoner seemingly means nothing
Only compelling plot is black elf/unsullied in the orc spot the rest of these characters
Rewatched fellowship of the ring, then watched like another 4 hours of lore videos. Man LOTR is boring
I can appreciate the depth of the world building and lore, but hardly anything I watched was compelling enough to make me want to read the books. I’m a fan of the fantasy genre, I think LOTR is basically inventor of the genre more or less which is cool, but I’d say they’re a few who have seen the formula and tweaked and refined it for the better. Like what Dragonball n DBZ did for Shonen.
If it was my introduction to the genre I’d probably be more compelled to like it. By the time I had seen LOTR for myself I had already seen a lot of other series that you could say were inspired/derived from it. So when you go back to the source of it all, a lot of villains and character motivations seem very one note.
4 hours of lore videos on a movie you were bored of...tf wrong with you lmaoo
I genuinely can’t believe the backlash this show has received
I watched the first two episodes and was bored out of my mind but that’s cool because I already knew going in that this show wasn’t for me and that’s perfectly fine.
But when a show with women and black characters like HotD is pretty much being praised it makes you wonder why this show isn’t. Like can you just say it’s because there’s women and black actors in it?
They’re trying to gaslight you for not enjoying this show, saying you’re racist and misogynistic and it’s f***ing disgraceful.
I’m not trying to start any s*** either, I’m genuinely curious.
Nah hotd is just way better that's all
The pacing and dialogue is the problem.
4 episodes deep and I feel like barely anything has happened. That's accurate to Tolkien's pace tho, I guess
Only 3 episodes left? Yikes this show just don't have the compelling characters to keep the ppl hooked
All the budget in the world won't make up for that
The pacing and dialogue is the problem.
I promise it’s not that because most of the complaints I see are too many characters, and very few of them are likeable

This x100
There is a difference between pacing issues, and just flat out unlikeable characters.
Elrond - Boring
Galadriel - Unlikeable
Arondir and the white woman + b****** child - Holy s*** so boring and unlikeable
Halbrand - Generic brooding bad guy that really is a good guy at heart (boring)
The entire Harfoots story - Please no more
Durin + his family and the meteor man are the only somewhat interesting pieces on this show.
But yeah, the pacing is doing it no favors either.. Combine both of those and you get an entirely mid show
