It's the same as commission based jobs. You CAN get paid more but you get paid less securely. Go to another country, you know what people want ? They get paid a good wage and THEN you can still tip. Outrageous huh?

Part of the reason commission and waiter jobs are like that is it encourages good service. Is the security worth lower earning potential maybe to some. But restaurants have non tip staff that cook or wash dishes etc.

These types pocket watching. Unless you own a major business, we’re all on the same team.

Just move to Europe, we don't tip, we don't file taxes, we dont pay insane amounts for healthcare etc..

It's weird to hear Americans go to jail because they forgot to file their taxes, over here the state does it for us. We can do it ourselves too, if we want.

also beggars are often organized, they'll usually put kids or old women to beg. and at the end of the day they're picked up in a nice car.

Don't give them money. They will usually say they're hungry and ask for food. When you tell them you can buy them food, they'll say that they rather have money so they can buy the food somewhere else. dont fall for it.

No that's my point, you can earn a good wage and then encourage good service which should be tipped. I shouldn't have to tip for average ass Service

  • Nah but you should in the US so these restaurants can stop putting in that bullshit 20% gratuity in the bill off rip to combat non-tippers. They starting to do that when it's just two people dining, s*** is f***ed up.

  • Oct 9, 2022

Nontippers kill me man. Like 10% at least isn’t gonna move the needle.

Nah you’re not. I don’t tip if the service is ass it is what it is. I hate the tipping conversation cause mfs be having more smoke for the customers than the mfs that pay them their wages. It’s always easier to go for the little people I guess.

  • Simulacra

Americans would rather call you broke or an a****** instead of fixing the system smh

On god lmao. “If you can’t afford to tip, just stay at home”. Like how about you fight for them to get better wages from their employers lmao. They direct that smoke to the wrong people.

What if you also make very little

I definitely get it and I personally tip but one new thing since the pandemic is you’re expected/asked to tip for pickup too which is crazy

I empathize with the workers but it’s a lot to say a person shouldn’t feel like they can live with themselves or carry shame because they can’t help support someone who shouldn’t be their responsibility

I know it is what it is rn but idk I don’t think it’s that black and white. It’s a s***ty situation

Speaking on traditional sit down restaurant/bar style tipping, you should just stay home tbh and make ur own dinner if you can’t afford to tip. You have a very a valid point and I be in the same boat a lot, but you’re asking for ppl to serve, wait and cook you food in a timely professional manner.

  • Oct 9, 2022

I enjoy leaving huge tips, it makes me feel good but Workers shouldn't have to rely on tips they should be based on service or the generosity of the customer

  • Oct 9, 2022

    Bro said legally obligated lmao

  • Oct 9, 2022

I’ve never worked in the food service industry before but after knowing and hearing awful tip stories from people who do work in it I always try to tip

  • Oct 9, 2022

When the cashier turns that tablet around, staring you down trying to pressure you to tip and then you smash that “no tip” anyways >>>>>

Really don’t find it necessary to tip someone who’s just taking my order behind a counter

It’s not for them, it’s for the cooks making your food. The ones that are sweating and working tirelessly to serve your dumbass some food.

  • Oct 9, 2022

    I tip whenever I can.

    Help whenever you can.

Then work the wages into the actual cost instead of adding a bonus unspoken charge at the end that apparently means you're a piece of s*** if you don't pay it

You are a piece of s*** if you don’t tip.
