The basic and lazy sample flip of The Realest from Alc. Which I guess isn't that big of a deal, if they going for a freestyle mixtape kinda vibe. But I feel most of us waiting on an Erykah Badu and Alchemist track were expecting more.

I understand more than most people as someone who both makes a living in the music industry & who has been involved in the generative A.I. space since early 2021

There were already ~90k songs sent to DSPs daily prior to AI music flooding the market. The odds of ppl hearing your music were slim-to-none without a proper marketing strategy, & the influx of slop really doesn’t meaningfully change that

The same goes for the oversaturated rat-race of digital artists who unrealistically think they can make a career off of $15 commissions, like they haven’t already been getting massively undercut by freelancers in the global south etc.

People strive for human connection & the proliferation of slop will only intensify that desire

The real economic danger comes from creative workers becoming redundancies in corporate environments. They already have & will continue to feel the pain, as they always have in the face of technological advances. & unfortunately that applies to ppl across all industries as we continue moving toward generalized automation without any semblance of a safety net

I just think it’s crazy & entitled to bully real artists who have decades of contributions under their belt when there are clearly larger issues at play (FUCK Timbaland b**** ass tho)

A lot of AI art is pretty trash, and I’m all for human element in art. But I also don’t really give a f*** about this that much, I just care about the music.

If the song was better I think most people would look past the AI cover and video but honestly it kinda fits. Either way imma still check out the project and I’m sure they have better s*** in the tuck.

The issue is people are talking about the cover instead of the music; that’s not a good look. If they selected a strong enough single, who cares what visuals were used.

Situations like this is why I stopped putting artists/celebs on a pedestal. I think a big reason why people are so upset is because they thought Alchemist was “one of the good ones”
