Exactly. Beefs are more of a distraction than help to careers. They’re toxic and nothing really changes unless the artists calls it quits. Jay arguably lost to Nas ppl still have him as the GOAT, Biggie lost to PAC (told all his ppl he would respond) Big is revered more now than PAC.

And this is why some people don't consider him a true rapper. A true rapper would take all that and make the hardest rap song in their life. Drake turns tail and tries to make just a singing album with Views and not respond to Pusha with a record but just subliminal diss him in other records. Nah that's inexcusable from someone claiming to be the best.

All this s*** your saying is my problem with this take and his excuses. It ain't the Drake I knew growing up. The Drake coming up would respond to any pressure with heat. We got some of his best lyrical songs from that (Dreams Money Can Buy, 5AM in Toronto, 0 to 100 / The Catch Up, 30 For 30 Freestyle, etc). That Drake wanted to be the best. He was trying to prove to himself and the world he was the best. That Drake wouldn't let s*** change the course of his album. That Drake would definitely respond back to Push because it does accomplish something for him. Proving once and for all he deserves to be consider one of the best rappers despite also singing R&B and Pop and being the biggest mainstream artist.

We over 10 years in this mans career and Drake is established as one of the most successful, impactful, and talented hip-hop/rnb/pop artists in black music history and people still expecting Drake to be something he is not. Drake is not a street nigga. We know this. Neither are 99.9% of music listeners including myself. That doesn’t mean he is not a cool/real nigga and it certainly has nothing to do with his talent. He’s also not scared of these so called “street niggas”. He’s proven that. He’s not about to be out here beating his chest trying to prove himself to toxic street niggas and be all hyper aggressive for no reason. That would make him look like a herb tbh. Niggas tried it, he clapped back with heat each time, then kept it moving. What more do niggas want?
