Yikes the online reaction to this has been so overwhelmingly toxic that I've found myself questioning if I really like this as much as I do🤦♂️
And yeah, I definitely do
Everyone I've spoken to irl thinks its dope
People online are such NPCs it is scary, social media just one big echo chamber with a weird passion for hating Drake
I could never pick sides either, imagine picking sides about two men who literally don't even know you exist 💀
Ye & Drake both dropped great albums in the same week, literally what is there to complain about

Everyone got out their feelings this weekend so it’s whatever. If people are still talking about an album they don’t like past the initial reception then that’s on them. Couldn’t imagine dedicating that much time to something I don’t like
that’s why I said I ain’t gonna let it bother me anymore
you guys think Drake doing anything rollout related this week?
Media platforms working hard to s*** all over this narrative I don't think the move is to just do nothing like usual.
Hate seeing dude get trashed so much, but hopefully this will inspire him to either do better and try harder, or just stop making music and enjoy his legacy which I'm also cool with at this point in his career. But as cool as this project is, if he's not going to putting in more effort I'm honestly good off of more.
People just mad the album isnt what they wanted from drake
The music is still great

What even did they expect tho? This is as Drake as an album gets. He also never claimed it would be anything else.

People want him to be Kanye and make a 808s or yeezus

I'm sure the standard rollout will continue - music videos, promotional campaigns, advertisements, some live appearances
But ultimately there is no value for Drake to directly engage with the 'hate narrative' being pushed
Addressing the 'hate narrative' that is rampant on social media will just potentiate it, and if Drake responds it will make him look worse off and insecure
As much as it is a weird comparison, this is slightly reminiscent of Whole Lotta Red. Carti seemingly went into damage control by announcing the WLR deluxe, but soon came to his senses and realised you need to let a body of work breathe . . . Here we are 9 months later and WLR is being hailed as another classic and the initial kneejerk negative reception has steadily been dismissed by people coming round to the music
Drake even spoke about this notion in the RapRadar interview, initial reactions nowadays quantify an album to either "trash" or "classic" status straight away. . . I'm sure he was aware that this narrative would remerge for CLB's release
Drake should take a similar approach in my opinion, let the music breathe, I feel like this has happened with every Drake project since Views (although admittedly Scorpion has aged awfully) - but even so, the quality is here on this record, people online just want to take the contrarian stance all the time in order to virtually assimilate, heaven forbid actually forming your own opinion in 2021

He might do promo in the UK, (assuming he’s heading their for Wireless) - maybe another FITB or even a Daily Duppy
The comparisons of Champagne Poetry to Tuscan Leather are fair but it feels way more like Come Winter.

Oh he’s in the Uk?

I just wanted love songs not 808s but love songs or songs about the concept of love. I went into it with basically no expectations but with certified lover boy title, pregnant cover and heart in hair I didnt expect this
Oh he’s in the Uk?
I don’t think he is, I think he’s still in Houston but.. I would bet he’s gonna go London and be a surprise guest at Wireless this weekend. I remember a while ago he said he wanted to have an album release party in London.

The leaks and the editors note basically reaffirmed to me what kind of theme he’d be going for.

You wanted a serious love album with a title like certified lover boy? Knew this was gonna be toxic playboy s*** when he first announced the title

Us Londoners love Drizzy like he our own here
he always welcome we always gonna turn up for him

I didn't listen to leaks and avoided all that even snippets so thats part of why I was confused. On here some thought it would be mainly rap which I am cool with but subs disses and talking to the haters takes away from my experience because DRAKE ALREADY DEFIED THE HATE THE STATS SHOW THAT. You dont need to address them anymore

not serious per se but some concept songs about dating or how he fell in and out of love with love itself. I knew he was going to stay toxic lol
