40: The discipline, the hardest part about it is really walking away from those moments. Not being in the studio 4 days straight with my brother. That’s tuff. I miss that. You know? That’s sort of a big sacrifice. I guess I sort of save up that energy til the end of the process. And you know what, whatever, I’ll stay up for the last 2 weeks. You know what I’m saying? Just not for the whole 2 years.

KD: that’s smart

KD: yeah like we got 2 weeks left?

KD: til CLB drops.

40: Ah, s***. Idk idk idk.

KD. Nah, just a joke man. I know he can’t let that cat out the bag, man.

40: nah, Of course not, first of all of course not. you guys know I would never do that. But what I’ll tell you is this like: he’s always got it. He had it 8 months ago. He had it 6 months ago. 3 months ago. 10 months ago. He’s always got it. Now does that mean he’s done? Idk s***. He might make 10 songs next week. Idk. Right? But he’s got it. It’s just when he gon pull the trigger? Idk when he gon pull the trigger. He gon pull the trigger when he wants to pull it. But he’s GOT IT. He’s always GOT IT. Whether or not he thinks he’s ready or not, he’s always ready.

KD: I see how you framing this.

Eddie: you’re good at this. I see what happened just now.

40: I’m dead serious. I’m not even playing. I’m f***ing serious. He’s always ready. I’m serious. He’s got a lot of music. He’s good at making music. You guys know this. He’s there. He’s ready. If he has to drop the album tmrw he drops it tmrw. And you have to understand the other thing about Drake is Drake can make the industry move. If Drake says yo like I wanna drop my album on Friday. Yo industry’s gonna jump and it’s coming out Friday. He’s gonna make that call and it’s gonna happen. It doesn’t necessarily gonna have to be all like 3 months in advance and... he’s gonna make it move.

I blame covid, but to an extent because...
1. Artists are still dropping albums
2. Drake said Summer 2020 in May
3. Lets just say Drake didn’t know Covid would last this long when he said Summer 2020 (in May), he dropped a single in mid August. Why drop a single if you have no plan of dropping the album... within months.

Like I said, poor structure/planning. There was damn near no timing in mind to this rollout.

I wrote it out myself. In the past, i appreciated when ppl transcribed cool parts from interviews. So I did it myself this time for people who don't have time to listen to the podcast yet

Nothing 40 said in regards to CLB changed my mind about when this album is coming. He was being coy by saying alot without saying much new if you really listen.

All I know is, no way Republic let’s Ari come in October if Drake was. She’d have (and want) to take that backseat to November or later. Hang it up. Willing to eat crow.

This. We know Drake works on the album till the end and even make new songs last minute so nothing anyone says gives any glimpse into the release date.
