old singles donât count for sales, only RIAA certification. right? someone correct me if im wrong
Anything streamed or sold before and album is officially released doesn't count toward streaming numbers but are used for certification.
After the album is released everything from that point on counts
Drake fatigue is gone. Everyoneâs fiending for new music, the features and EPs confirmed heâs as sharp as ever.
Music fans in general have been robbed for 2 summers now cause of Covid.
This thing is going to do a billi streams first week, count on it.
I feel you but album singles is such a tired format.
Not hearing any songs before the album makes the first listen so much better. In this era, the fans choose the singles anyway via streaming numbers.
Guys like drake donât have to worry about sales, everyoneâs gonna listen. But yeah if he wants to outsell scorpion I guess he needs to put the old singles on it or put fresh ones out before the album.
The numbers game just makes the whole thing feel inauthentic to me. The art should always come first.
I just don't find the fun in a surprise release. I prefer being hyped before the album drops. And he's really good at hyping fans with the singles.
I'm an Em fan and I haven't been really hyped for an album since he started to drop the Beyoncé way.
Wouldnât be surprised if the rollout is one IG picture of the cover art with the date 2-3 weeks before and one IG picture with the track list 3-4 days before it drops. And thatâs it.

Those are IG posts not a rollout XD. But he already had a rollout and singles, they just got old as f*** or he put them in other projects.
Look at Kanye, I think the album will be more mid Christian Rap, but the rollout has people hyped af. He would have outsold JIK just because of the better rollout if he had dropped.

Tbh the reality is that Drake could never âBeyonceâ an album/rollout bc he doesnât run nowhere near as tight of a ship as her. Itâs đ x1000 over there at Parkwood. Thatâs what made hers super exciting. Weâve always known things about Drakeâs LPs and eras beforehand. Whether he or somebody clout chasing off his name told us. Even the one time he got pretty damn close with IYRTITL was accidentally spilled by Demar Derozan of all people. Everybody (the majority) is not tuned in like that so the surprise element was still there though.
I agree with you tho, surprise drops are meh. Drake doesnât necessarily need a traditional rollout but they are fun for fans. Iâve never expected him to do a surprise drop with CLB. Fans are just antsy bc we literally donât know anything concrete about the albumâŠ..yet. I personally find not knowing anything refreshing but i am anticipating the rollout
âIâm afraid his image will take a massive itâ
Come on
You think Papiâs legacy wouldnât be damaged irreversibly if he dropped another Mid ting?

his legacy is already solidified

normally for NDAs when you sign them it donât really prevent leaks but for beyonce or hov you sign one of them s***s you def cant say nothing or else the roc nation snipers outside your window in 15 minutes

Lmao right. And donât get me wrong people get ahold to Bey information, stans included, but there is a real fear in saying something by her creative collaborators. Nobody else pulling off that s*** she did in 2013. A whole visual album and dropped it out the sky like a stork. Even Drake explaining how he had to clear their record is hilarious.

wait what did drake say
but fr tho itâs insane how she even was able to do a whole surprise drop album and no info from it leaked. all she said was vegan cupcakes on ig then boom album. itâs def not hard to get hold of on the info but yeah you gotta be scared to share it cos she would firstly sue then scrap that s***

He was on tour in Chicago if I remember correctly. One of her ppl flew in, pulls out their laptop shows him the MINE video etc. leaves. Boom. The album was out by the time he got off stage that night and he had no idea it was coming. LOL. I may be off a little with the story but thatâs the gist of it, Iâll try to find it
Maybe I didn't follow info on Drake updates as closely as now back then but IYRTITL and WATTBA were surprise releases to me lol

After Demar spilled in Nov about IYRTITL coming idk about anywhere else but the ktt thread was poppin with speculation and lil tidbits of information about the project for months prior to its release. Then Elliot was given the confirmation hours ahead. For most ppl tho it was a total surprise. WATTBA, Drake himself confirmed on stage that him and Future had a tape coming before VFT6 and this:
both projects didnât have a major rollout ahead of time but some fans knew about them. Most ppl prob were surprised tho bc most of the speculation only lived on the net in niche places per usual.

you spill once with these big artists you'll never collab with them again, they are ruthless
Is Laugh Now, Cry Later gonna be on this?
(I hope not)
Most likely, yeah. I think it will get the Hotline Bling bonus track treatment.

I like LNCL but I don't think so. Hotline Bling felt necessary because it felt like the biggest song in the world or one of them around that time. Or just coming off from being that
There was less of a gap between HLB and the album. Also the song was more of a slow burner becoming a smash.
