Fantano actually i think said it but every Kendrick album has more or less been about the same thing (searching for salvation)
It’s just the vehicle/life experience he uses to get there that differentiates the content.
But when that muse that powers your creativity is internal you can always find a place for your pen to shine. Hence why post beef kendrick is gonna be just fine. Drake on the otherhand it’ll be difficult. He could actually drop a classic but he has to touch on the internal muse which he hasnt legit done since nwts tbh.

People end up appreciating things that challenge their view, they just don’t like change or subversion in the immediate moment.
Now granted, something being automatically challenging or subversive doesn’t make it good, but in Kendrick’s case it was.
Reason why people keep talking about Kendrick’s performance is because it threw them off initially as they were expecting your typical formulaic halftime show where you just get greatest hits and Kendrick decided to challenge that formula. Which left people trying to understand it.
