I never understood this perspective
Both bands are iconic as f***, and aren't the "old man" bands like Rolling Stone/U2 have become. I think both stand firm, next too each other. But it wouldn't be ridiculous to argue against one or the other.
your name is what i had in mind too but honestly its just glenn danzig being some sort of an alien or a cia agent like jim morrison was
also beach boys? nah. VU? theyre great but nah. and beach boys are amazing!
4 consecutive classic albums
White Heat/White Light credited as one of the first noise rock albums ever
influenced everyone from Bowie to Strokes to Charli XCX
unique come up story: band formed with guidance of Andy Warhol

rchp is def iconic but i never thought their music was consistently great
they got some dope videos and live performances though, my girl loves them and has shown me so much of their music and its a head scratcher how she talks about them. She doesnt really listen to them anymore but when we were younger it was constant
Nirvana was great but nah
They’re gassed because Kurt is an icon and they weren’t able to fall off like bands who are able to put out more than 3 studio albums
Hahaha no
Alice, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam were all better.
Faith no more were better.
ill never know what it feels like to enjoy a faith no more song

Chilli Peppers kind of had the total package is what I'm saying. As a band, they the characters, good to great music, great performances and their music is still alive till this day. Something that U2 tries very hard at, but everything about them just seems forced. It's just like The Beatles, their some of the greatest characters in music history.
Kurt Cobain is more iconic than the actual band Nirvana. Their legendary, but I think it's easy to over blow their legend.
Death deserves a mention here
the greatest extreme metal band ever bar none
There’s a zillion sounds out there to even have a dessert island five albums discussion iz absurd, miss me with that
Rolling stones for me, love nirvana (in my personal top 3) but they just don't got the catalog sadly
sorry but it’s the replacements
the entire OP is inspired by listening to Tim lmao

only seven notes to this whole s***
lets not drift too far into metaphysics
Putting Nirvana at the top for me is like putting Biggie at the top. Love him so much, he’s in my top 5, but two classics just isn’t enough for that kind of talk I’m sorry

I get that point actually
Two things for me
1.I can understand seeing RHCP as a total package, i just dont personally see it that way bc their music was definitely lacking for me
2.I get the Nirvana point Kurt is def bigger than Nirvana, but I cant really fault a band for having an iconic front man especially bc a lot of great bands dont even have memorable front men. Especially because the music legit lives up to Kurt’s image
