  • nothing but classics

  • Talking Heads and Beach Boys both clear I’m afraid

  • Also Pixies…Nirvana wouldn’t even exist w/o them

  • WRU

If anything one could argue qotsa is better than some of the bands mentioned but even still that’s an argument yet to be made. That supergroup stuff ehhh

For the fun of it I’ll say it’s quotsa over soundgarden (never cared for them), they’re prob as good as Pearl Jam and Alice is better

That's my point tho, we surely have some specific tastes, but looking at the big picture I would agree with OP, Nirvana really is that huge monument in rock history.

Never listened to that band because of that trash ass album cover

Fair enough. I personally love that album and think it was masterfully crafted. I'd say it doesn't have the immediately catchy and accessible songwriting and arrangements Nirvana has (which is one of the reasons I agree with your op). Instead, I had to stack some listens to fully appreciate the genius of that record, and those tend to become favorite albums in the long run.

Would love another crooked vultures album crazy how they didn’t entertain the idea

Brother, they have been entertaining the idea of a comeback. Both Dave and Josh recently said they would love to get the band back together.

  • oh you said American

  • damn it’s hitting me really hard in retrospect that kurt cobain’s top 50 albums helped shape my taste as a kid i wouldn’t have listened to the vaselines, black flag, pixies, iggy pop, and more if it weren’t for him

  • I have done some traveling and been to many hostels. The chili peppers are planet earths favorite band. They have tons of hits and their music is not too aggressive for the for the average person. If Bob Marley was American, he would probably have them beat.

trailblazers of folk, psych, country, indie etc.. not as much corn as The Beach Boys... yeah The Byrds are The Great American Band

Depends on what you mean by "greatest". Funkadelic technically played rock music and they can wipe the floor with any rock band ever. Nirvana might be the most impactful though.

P-Funk absolutely obliterate any other American band of the 70s

its kinda cheating to go further back in time for impact but i dont think they quite touch Ramones, Velvet Underground, Byrds, Beach Boys

    The Doors another contender

  • Prob in there era but theres an argument for all time
