Well none of the actual good pop rock bands are hot these days so there that go. Crazy the entire thread didn’t mention Linkin Park even as an oddball. Idk what the Killers are doing. 30STM is completely erased from people’s memory too

been thinking about it recently. im not the biggest nirvana fan (ill take pearl jams debut over any nirvana record) but by most conceivable metrics it all comes down to them. flawless discography in terms of presentation, hits, actual music, production, ideas. came from an incredible bubbling scene, as organic as they can get. insane sales, insane story of the group for better or worse. directly kickstarted the entirety of music mainstream for the next decade plus while not being active for a better half of it

led zeppelin might've plagiarized but they still popularized blues when no one else did and made it better as some of the best musicians at their instruments

so many musicians were pedos during the 1960s and 1970s it's crazy

even your favorite music artists were pedos and you don't even know it

They're my favourite band along with Sonic Youth but yeah Nirvana made so much great music in such a short time frame, it's hard to argue with OP based on the thread premise
