"greatest american rock band"
i'm talking about the person i replied to, not the op
Man we need more good rock music these days
Geese, Oh Sees, and a whole ton of extreme metal. UK been carrying this s*** with the windmill thing though i dont care for it. Oh Sees are the ones though. i was a skeptic for a minute but its a loooot of great rock music out there these days
also, if we're looking outside just america
it's crazy how arctic monkeys outlasted pretty much all there peers, have a GOOD discography, and probably still like the biggest working band in the world rn??
and mind you, there existence is off the back of what the strokes did which is why i think the strokes are worthy of such a title for greatest american rock band in the 21st century
lowkey a better question is what is the greatest american rock band that has emerged since the 21st century...
my answer would prolly be the strokes
queens of the stone age are right next to them for me, they did debut in 98 tho

vampire weekend > the strokes
queens of the stone age are right next to them for me, they did debut in 98 tho
would probably be my pick as well even though josh homme is the most punchable dude oat and their last two albums are whatever to me
this was on a #1 album
!https://youtu.be/uj1PagCfejs?si=tkExhLOSTyC1WVIPI cant stand niggas who say Nirvana was surface level or wasnt really emotionally moving
Like bruh Kurt killed himself and niggas gone say the pain in them songs wasnt real. Them niggas were raw bro and they really never played it too safe even on Neverminf
feel like discog talk is up in the air, but as far as impact strokes essentially had that same effect in influences as the band they were heavily inspired by which are the velvet underground
Yeah impact strokes got it fasho
Id easily give it to them if they had maybe 1 or 2 more albums I love
I give it to MGMT because they really made 2 classics back to back for me and Oracular Spectacular really has infinite replay value
would probably be my pick as well even though josh homme is the most punchable dude oat and their last two albums are whatever to me
i still havent peeped the recent one but villains was some ass
vampire weekend > the strokes
f*** no lmao
their debut is a stone cold classic, but it's just been kinda spotty since then
and ik ppl are gonna wanna mention MVotC which is valid even tho i don't like that as much as i used to, but after that it's been literally whatever
father of the bride wasn't even bad, but i just don't think they have as much good music or made AS good music then the strokes did at their height(s)
Vampire Weekend is carried a long way for me because of their first 2 albums but The Strokes debut is better than both
velvet underground and the beach boys
nirvana 🐐 tho
I could have literally made this post, amazing taste
Damn.
Lowkey, I'm starting to realize just how much the British destroy America when it comes to rock bands.
I kinda lowkey agree but Is This It man
You really dumb as f*** man damn
