It’s not trash per se
It’s a c+ maybe b- if you wanna be nice
ITS A CHRISTMAS MOVIE
I enjoyed it
Great tv film
Another meta film but I understand seems like Hollywood needs society to realize how dumb they look
Loved the soundtrack, loved the acting, some scenes were hilarious. I came out satisfied overall despite the corny script. Sure it´s satire but I feel like there was nothing done particularly smart or witty about it. Pretty straightforward
ITS A CHRISTMAS MOVIE
It’s more like a reflect on the year top of film but I thought it served it’s purpose
Hopefully the film helps some people realize how foolish they look
DONT LOOK UP!
The ending of this movie got me choked up about how everyone was just waiting for their impending dooms how at peace and anxiety filled one must feel to know that you can’t do s*** but wait for your life to tragically end
I loved this s*** and I came in under the impression of terrible review scores and how (bad) this movie was gonna be
Seeing people upset that JLaw’s character gets mocked while Leo’s gets praised And saying the movie is misogynist. But like, that’s the point. It’s part of the satire, the only reason they aren’t mocking Leo’s character is because he’s attractive
Also, it’s obvious that cowriter David Sirota (worked on Bernie campaign) is supposed to JLaw’s character. The person who was right all along but no one took seriously, a lot of socialists think that they are those people
as i have had time to decompress this movie it was good.
JLaw carried a bit.
Leo's cheating on wife part I guess was needed, but I coulda done without it.
Movie was just a tad too on the nose for me. the DJT references in Streep and DJT Jr references with Hill were just too blatant. funny for some I guess, but not my cup of tea when its so obvious like that.
It's funny cause they attack everyone in this.
The fact the president is female makes me think they were digging a little bit at the pompousness of Hillary.
Also the hiding of the smoking cigs thing was a clear dig at Obama which was funny.
Timmy C had a hilarious small role. His prayer at the end was crazy lmao.
Rylance character being zuck / elon was a bit too on the nose, and I think Rylance could have been more eccentric
overall probably like a 6-7/10. Arianna basically parodying herself was interesting.
Best scene was when JLaw points out to Chalamet’s character that the comet is visible. She’s excited on the phone with Leo but Chalamet’s is freaking the f*** out. He sells it really well
This is clearly McKays best movie and it is GOOD. Yes sometimes it was too “on the nose” but like what do you expect. Even some of the best satire novels are too on the nose. I think he his sort of pioneering a new type of drama, comedy aesthetic that will adapt to be smarter. Definitely some heavy metamodernisim and tones that hopefully gets adapted more in film.
The one Leo scene in the news rooms was great. He’s so f***ing good it’s stupid.
Also big shouts to the actors for making that dialogue work. And big shouts to casting director. Unsung hero’s of cinema
After one watch it felt like this is an attempt at a modern satire similar to Verhoeven's Starship Troopers/Robocop
Definitely plan on revisiting this
My main take away from this movie is how people talk and care about stupid useless unimportant s*** all the time at all times

The meteor is climate change and we’re still not gonna do anything about it despite all the time we have to try and stop it.
Never had a “comedy” movie give me this much anxiety knowing that we’re in the warmup phase of our “meteor”.

Am I the only one who wasn’t impressed by that scene? Leo is great but it kept feeling like scenes for SNL to me
I see the main critique is the movie’s message and it’s lack of subtlety. Like our “meteor” isn’t teetering on the edge of our atmosphere.

FIVE F***ING YEARS. This movie encapsulates it perfectly, we’ve desperate to escape from the stark reality of the situation and need to be coddled with media friendly personalities and distracted by pop culture and politics that appeal to our echo chambers and don’t care about science and the truth.
We beg for “subtlety” because without it our comfortable and tended to everyday lives are severely affected when we should be extremely worried for the long term and not the short.
anyone read the VF interview with him? what was up with the doctor ending the interview?

Being on this site and actually caring about most of the things on this site are actually two different things. From time to time there’s actually good info on this site that can be seen as helpful.
I’m an information w**** and you know every now and again I learn something new from here but most of the time it is dumb s***
