There’s real ones out there. But I do think that Rocky is an artist who attracts people who care more about aesthetic, social standing, and visual appeal than music. I mean, the fact is the guy just isn’t a very accomplished musical artist, and is more known for his relationships, fashion, and gorgeous face than anything he’s done musically

He has released less music than almost any other musician in the last 15 years. But yet, somehow he still is able to be a hugely popular artist with gen z because he’s hot and the punk aesthetic is in right now

S***s corny. Rocky makes Travis Scott look deep. Probably the most shallow MC ever, in addition to being the hottest

My concern is that no one else likes the music either

I think this fact is slept on: 99% people don’t like music for the music. They like something else that they identify with on the surface or the social performance of listening to something they think is cool, hip, young, etc.

Rocky has objectively accomplished less than any other rapper in history. It’s not a subjective discussion. As far as music and resume, he’s a joke, and has no leg to stand on.

Where’s B.o.B. Today? Where’s wiz Khalifa even? These were peers of Rocky who were kicked out of rap for not having classic debuts

If they were as hot as Rocky, they would still be huge with zoomers today. And that’s just crazy to realize. To see someone who never accomplished anything beyond the datpiff era still be huge and coasting off looks and a Tyler the creator friendship is actually insane

a lot of high profile coasting with weak catalog is just who you know and your marketing team doing you well. wiz is doing really good afaik but the whole weed s*** is juggalo fest levels of corny in the 20s. i dont think bob had any personality to begin with because i only remember his mainstream hits and a very stupid notion that his career failed because he was a flat earther or something

on the other hand, fashion bougee s*** will inevitably attract larger audiences because more people in a specific tax bracket aspire to that lifestyle. so thats far as marketing goes, and for who you know well you got rihanna and tyler in your camp and theyre just about the most visible when it comes to embodying that elevated bougee celebrity style. so rocky is 2/2 on the most important s*** that has nothing to do with his music which is at best passable-good but was never actually good (and i like rocky albums)

Respect that’s a good point but that’s just cause he’s from NY lol. I’m on the east coast every person I ever met could do that. (Edit: this isn’t an exaggeration either: I’ve literally never met anyone in my life who can’t freestyle off the top on a level similar to Rocky which is a very low level, to be clear) For me that’s not the bar for being an MC, that’s the bare minimum bar for even being a human being in my eyes. I do respect that he was willing to do that on radio but cmon, if he was an MC it should translate to his music. What song is his best performance as a true MC? It doesn’t exist to my knowledge. Where’s the storytelling song where’s the concept song? It don’t exist because his only way to succeed was to tell us how pretty he is on the mic. We gotta be honest here dude is a fraud
