I wanna recommend this to my mom but the d****s n all the other gory stuff they have to do in order to jump from different realities would be too much for her to handle
The movie kinda acknowledges the taboo behind those things and the shocking moments have an innocent quality on screen. But yea you can’t expect your mom to get over that stuff to enjoy a movie lol

This movie really had a packed audience of an imax screen laughing at two rocks communicating through text
And then crying at the beauty of the last act

I don’t think there’s anything overtly hidden about the message. Part of the reason I love the film is because of its simplicity. If you extract all of the incredibly nut ass visuals and ancillary elements that seemingly just explode your senses through out the film, it’s really just a simple story about a mother learning to let go and accept her daughter for who she is and in the process, learning to accept herself and the totally and wholly unique life she’s been given. It’s a really beautiful story told in the most absolutely bonkers way possible
I've read a few reviews and learned that this movie is an example of the millennial apology fantasy.
A ton of recent movies have been cashing in on this specific fantasy.
The plot was well structured. The visuals were stunning. The action was amazing. The acting was believable. There were a lot of great jokes.
I did look at life a bit differently after seeing it. (the sci-fi elements were intriguing)
But yea there is a very clear cut skeleton for box office success nowadays. The meat is the difference imo. The meat was good.
Never cry to movies but love my mom and we butted heads when she was an alcoholic which was point of hereditary by the way @SUPERMAN @SegaDreamFlash

Dr who ?
May see final time 7 on Saturday but some things I notice or that clicked recently
1. The entire family itself is struggling with identity in so many different ways. What the Dad demands from the daughter. That he wanted her to be a son. That she herself isn't overly feminine she is just very much herself
2. The fact that Evelyn calls her big nose and is prejudice or spiteful herself at a point in time being closer to antihero she isn't woke. She calls Joy fat puts her down and puts others down at the beginning. She isn't just nihilistic she hurts others intentionally for no reason than for them to feel like her
3. Wayman is the most kind hearted character both sides in all. His soul is just that pure. He helps Evelyn believe in himself and even how he transforms is always a unique way of pain :Paper cuts especially after him doing the divorce document is deep as f***
4. I relate to all characters in this movie in different ways. in 2017 after my surgery on my ass because I didn't poop for a month after trying an intestinal cleanse they were giving away at work (whole foods at time) I became not just depressed but deeply nihilistic because it felt like I was being hyper criticized. Since then I word it that in many ways society ask you to kill your inner child the imagination and soul of you. Which is clear here with Evelyn hating the googly eyes then by end embracing her childhood including the trauma
5. The everything bagel as suicide only fully hit me on shrooms like of course I got it the other times but the 6th time on Shrooms really hit me because I nearly killed myself when I couldnt be myself I am not LGBT but I am non binary and will be changing my name because my former name of Steven has seen enough pain and I want to let go of the me that was suicidal and was googling "is it cheaper to call a hitman on yourself". The me that was going to jump in front of a Metra train from Student Loan stress. Private student loans dont go away in death so I felt like a burden to my mom. I hyper feared dying so didnt go outside for an entire year. Now I have life insurance so its cool
What’s this movie about
Everything
Nothing
is this a real question
Trying to explain to my friend so we can watch it
Trying to explain to my friend so we can watch it
tell her it's about a mom doing her taxes
going in blind >>>
Is this the widest released A24 flick?
Trying to explain to my friend so we can watch it
I’m in the same boat trying to figure out how to sell it to my friends
Obviously going in 100% blind is best but I think I’m gonna say
It’s about a woman who’s a bit unhappy with her simple life and has tax problems at her laundromat who gets visited by an alternate reality version of her husband who says she needs to help fight a multiverse threat
