I’m not mad at the preview, it looks great but this movie basically going to be if MCU made a Superman movie

Not a bad route to take for the character but also was looking for a more distinct tone from Gunn

Still have to wait & see once the movies out but it looks really great visually, very colorful

I thought the preview did a good job of showing a more human Superman who can get injured aka isn’t an all powerful god and who is more down to earth (or as much as he can be)

I think Superman if made by the MCU was the theatrically released Justice League movie finished by Joss Whedon. That felt almost too corny while we know James Gunn to be extremely heartfelt and emotionally powerful under serious circumstances

He knows how to balance tones I guess is what I'm trying to say

both directors migrated from marvel to dc
james gunn arguably a bigger architect of the mcu than joss also
and the suicide squad was basically an r rated guardians of the galaxy reskin
bro brought the same cinematographer and costumer from mcu to dcu now so idk how much closer you could actually get to a mcu superman movie

bonus points is james gunn teasing that he wants to do dcu mcu crossover

GoTG series is inherently a bit more serious than a cracked out group of villains on a suicide mission and even then he was able to convey emotional heights that a lot of MCU movies wish they could reach

There's a reason why after the first GoTG movie the MCU shifted more in line to what James Gunn was doing
