Big Sean wrote 50’s best songs
Jay sold the most CDs of any rapper behind Em and Pac.
Peaks are cool and all but it's arguably worse to peak high but fall off early and hard than to have a consistently long lasting career.
50 had a great prime but the fall off was brutal. I remember, in 2008, niggas straight up left the G Unit wave in droves and Wayne was GRODT level hot when C3 came out.
Jay survived all the rappers who peaked higher than him: Pac, Big, DMX, Eminem, Nelly, 50, Ye, Wayne, Drake, etc. but was able to remain musically relevant.
50 is lowkey saying this out of envy though because he tried so hard to get a release date for Street King Immortal but the hype was too dead for it to transpire. He'd love a Jay type rap career deep down.
Things that never came to be:
Street King Immortal
Motor City by Jon Connor, y'all remember that? Lol
Detox (prolly for the best. Dre has been over-producing his joints for a hot minute)
RD, blueprint, black album, American gangster, watch the throne, 4:44 all better than GRODT, maybe even vol 2 and possibly vol 1. Even if you gave it to 50 it’s like ok that’s one album and bro flopped after that. And I consider myself 50 fan but if he spent the last 20 years working on improving his music instead of being a chatty Cathy maybe he’d have Jay’s legacy and not have to complain about it
Massacre was nice
it’s just convenient for him to go this route he more than any other rapper pushed numbers as a main sort of validation
Some of these takes

I love when you don’t have a strong opinion in a thread and you just sit back and watch everyone else
him talking about diddy was way more interesting sounds like he knows dudes gonna come out the pen on bs
laughable
laughable is people placing GRODT on the same level as Funcrusher Plus, Tetsuo & Youth, Liquid Swords, Midnight Marauders, ATliens etc
nostalgia carries that album and ain't nobody can convince me otherwise man

It's radioactive itt lmao
He got on the podcast with the racist mustache dude lmao
There’s a reason the GRODT anniversary tour was an international smash success and RD/TBP only had one night each in NYC

Then theres no point talking to you
Love Fif, but his obsession with Hov is becoming real weird now.
It's extra funny because you know deep down Hov is his favorite rapper, especially during the RD and Volumes-era.
He got a song sounding just like Jay on Power of the Dollar, he was definitely a fan around that time

Going a lil overboard, it’s a great album people do gas it like it’s a 10/10
Going a lil overboard, it’s a great album people do gas it like it’s a 10/10
totally
t's a great album just not on the level of all-time classics it doesn't make the cut it's a c tier classic for me
its not even a narrative its just objective fact, and its really not even a diss but its only thrown back in Jay face because he has tried to re-write reality and create this ridiculous distortion around his career.
Reasonable Doubt to Jay to Black album one of the best rap artists ever you just was never the number 1 guy, a multitude of great artists were never the no 1 in there time also.
Jay doesn't have an I'm The Man (ft. Chris Brown) tho
Jay doesn't have that dementia inspired collaboration with adam levine and eminem which made me envious of people who are deaf either, and that's coming from the man responsible for ghetto techno, suit and tie, and the majority of MCHG

I meant this negatively for jay lol

Hov has something like 14 no 1 albums dude there’s nothing objective about a broad narrative that he didn’t dominate
Peak>>longevity. Jordan>>Bron
Were you the best to ever do it or did you just do it for longer? Exactly

wait, you got love for Hov, but you not f***ing with that Suit & Tie?
If someone asks for a great example of propaganda and media influence just point to Jay and his status.
From not even top 3 in your own city during his prime—to overall GOAT 2 decades later. It’s the ROC
If Im Jay Im releasing a documentary like Mike did to make niggas remember what it really is and was.
The issue is that you cant produce it yourself and you need to allow niggas to really talk about the times.
MJ having Isiah in the doc validated the doc and made it a real piece not a full out glaze fest.
