  • 50 still peddling the whole "Graduation had Def Jam behind it's success" narrative will never not be funny to me.

This would be the equivalent to Kanye rn claiming Bully didn't outsell Iceman because of UMG lmao.

Everyone who was alive in 2007 knew that Graduation was THAT album and the songs resonated strongly. Even my mom was f***ing with Flashing Lights and she don't like rap like that lol.

Curtis was a very mediocre album that was carried hard by "I Get Money."

I owned both CDs and used to play both but Curtis left my rotation fast because it got to a point where I was just replaying I Get Money on loop while skipping most other tracks. Grad, however, I loved so much that I synced the music to my iPod.

Ye was on the rise alongside Wayne anyway. LR almost did 900k fw in 2005 and Gold Digger was almost In Da Club levels huge.

RD, blueprint, black album, American gangster, watch the throne, 4:44 all better than GRODT, maybe even vol 2 and possibly vol 1. Even if you gave it to 50 it’s like ok that’s one album and bro flopped after that. And I consider myself 50 fan but if he spent the last 20 years working on improving his music instead of being a chatty Cathy maybe he’d have Jay’s legacy and not have to complain about it

he did a milli in 4 days after GRODT

  • Three Meows Mór

Don’t think he could go toe to toe with Valentine

Love Fif, but his obsession with Hov is becoming real weird now.

It's extra funny because you know deep down Hov is his favorite rapper, especially during the RD and Volumes-era.

Jay sold the most CDs of any rapper behind Em and Pac.

Peaks are cool and all but it's arguably worse to peak high but fall off early and hard than to have a consistently long lasting career.

50 had a great prime but the fall off was brutal. I remember, in 2008, niggas straight up left the G Unit wave in droves and Wayne was GRODT level hot when C3 came out.

Jay survived all the rappers who peaked higher than him: Pac, Big, DMX, Eminem, Nelly, 50, Ye, Wayne, Drake, etc. but was able to remain musically relevant.

50 is lowkey saying this out of envy though because he tried so hard to get a release date for Street King Immortal but the hype was too dead for it to transpire. He'd love a Jay type rap career deep down.

people give 15 likes to parasocial fan fiction its crazy

  • NoFace

50 exaggerating of course but he’s right in the sense that Hov wasnt the guy until vol 1 or 2 (depending on who you ask). i also think its fair to say he didnt dominate a particular year outside of like 2004 & 2009 imo, but he was top 3 for a consistent decade

some of yall niggas wylin though with pretending there’s multiple Hov albums better than GRODT, thats kinda crazy

I was kinda taken aback too but when I think about it (as a fan of both) I rarely revisit GRODT but find myself revisiting multiple Hov era’s.

Hov just has more emotional and philosophical depth overall. From a hit making standpoint, 50 prime is top tier but Hov has depth and range which is sorta rare in the mainstream

itt people are completely blind to the fact that someone tries to clip bait 50 and he explains his opinion without making a grand statement and yall wanna treat it as something that it isnt

while also showing a complete lack of knowledge and taste when it comes to rap

  • Jay Z can still drop a great project today if he wanted to...unlike 50 who only knows how to talk s*** in interviews anymore

  • WRU

actually i relistened and hes right, jay was hot for maybe three years max across his pre retirement career and obviously never hit the highs fifty did

  • 50 cent is so lame for a guy who’s best album aged like milk

  • LaSean

    Grodt so f***ing overrated.
