i don’t ask that question to be rude or snappy

but i do think that the idea that people who live life like this (whether it be a measured choice they made or they fell into it one way or another) are perfectly content with their situation is a misconception

yeah it’s the end result (choosing to view yourself as such usually isn’t constructive in any way but if it helps then whatever) but some niggas are really just struggling and aren’t intentionally trying to be some albatross on their loved ones

I don’t mean to be rude or snappy either, but what is stopping you from going and getting a job? McDonalds will hire anybody with a pulse. I know it’s not the most glorious thing in the world, but everybody starts somewhere, and the more you delay that start, the more you’re hurting yourself down the line. If you have some horrible physical disabilities that’s obviously different, but everyone that is abled body is perfectly capable of putting fries in a bag for a couple hours a week.

Unfortunately we as a society have been so brainwashed to the point we think that those who only live life for life and not a career are the worst and not worth anything.

Those people are worth just as much, if not more than someone who gives up on what truly fulfills them only to gain monetary compensation or recognition from their peers.

A lot of people who seem happy because they “made it“ on paper are still miserable as f*** at the end of the day, because their job is just a coping mechanism for the hollowness inside. Money does not fulfill you. It’s not supposed to be a purpose, but a byproduct of labor.

And that is what work should be, too. Just a byproduct of life, not our main purpose. If your only purpose in life is to create “value“ for someone other than yourself, you are the real failure.

The older I got and the more I worked, the more I realized that the true meaning to life (to me) is needing as little cope as possible to enjoy life as is.

So if not working let‘s you rest well at night, go for it.
If you are a workaholic and that’s what makes you happy, go for it.

I‘m all for letting people do what they want without feeling the need to judge.

Wasnt my experience when i was a teenager. Applied for many fast food places and was never hired by one. Maybe for the best idk

It's not at the same ease as it was 15 years ago now. They've been min maxing new employees vs the hire anyone approach

They need people who will work in constant periods of being understaffed without quitting and needing to close due to it so they have more to look for now. They need the most exploitable, and that's not going to be most teens at this point

It's not difficult to get hired depending on who you are but their hiring approach is different and they're more picky

Nah one of my buddies has two degrees but was never able to get a job in his field it’s hard out here sometimes

interesting, I have two friends that fall into each category but with 1 degree each. The software guy just has a linguistics degree too, both employed in these fields
