Depends on your pov, as someone from music academia, I dont think music being dissected in academic spaces by hands that dont know s*** about the music is a net positive at all (e.g. what happened to jazz)
But that’s a whole nother thread.
And also it is strange until u remember the ppl that run it look like ⚪️
Im giving Thundercat way more credit than a grammy for linking the travis feature. Astrothunder’s a deep cut anyways (which is sad that is my fav song from that album)
It was the Grammy/being on that album, and then dropping these changes and Drunk. I noticed a lotttt of people getting hip to him around that time.

I’d bet 10,000 bitcoin These Changes did more for thundercat’s career than that grammy dawg

We as fans and outsiders can ask every year “why do people still care about the Grammys” but the fact of the matter is they’ll always have relevance as long as they’re important to artists on a widespread level
Yes the award doesn’t actually “mean” anything but for many artists it’s an acknowledgment of their art being validated whether we like it or not

Yup. And until something more cultural that's not named the BET Awards replaces it, we stuck with it and might as well make the best of it

24k magic is great but it's wild Bruno beat Kendrick, Jay Z, and Gambino in 2017

abel a dumbass for boycotting still. and even bigger that he got himself screwed by nfl, pepsi and academy back in 2020
Unfortunately this is important cause they use our lack of academic representation as people of color to say how ghetto or lower intelligence we are.
Winning a grammy doesn’t…change that though? That’s a societal issue altogether.
My post is separating Grammys from academia, that sentence and every other one was about academia and I mention as such by word
AOTY is a step into academic acknowledgment. Whatever your views of academic acknowledgment are, that’s separate
Album was submitted last year
Not likely she'll get anything sadly
A lot of good R&B albums this year
I expect:
LANA
Hearts Sold Separately
Hurry Up Tomorrow
$ome $exy $ongs 4 U
Sincerely,
Maybe the Bieber album...
