Nov 6, 2025·3 repliesGoshPeople keep asking this, and I get it, but the issues with the Grammys was them constantly getting it wrong and not having the knowledge to even begin to award black artists and black art
While it's not perfect, or even close, I do think they are trying to do better, and they get it right more than in the past, and regardless to if you think they are meaningless or not, it can and still has changed young artists lives by winning on this scale because of their art

It's a fact your booking fee increases post grammy nom, let alone win, now it's up to the individual if they would describe that as life changing, but its not crazy to say there are still people who look at it as an accomplishment

I mean....niggas rates def going up after the Grammy lol. An example is the niggas that contributed to TPAB such as Thundercat. Yes they were popping before that (especially in LA) but more eyes def went onto them which converted to more placements like Astrothunder with Travis

This not totally true, they show it depending on the year and lineup of nominees, same with basically every other genre-specific award

I don’t watch the ceremony or care for it, but this thread is to discuss the ceremony so I’ll at least add my thoughts. I didn’t think HOV should have been up there with Blue opining to the whites either while Bey stands in a cowboy hat looking mad and in character lmfao

Im giving Thundercat way more credit than a grammy for linking the travis feature. Astrothunder’s a deep cut anyways (which is sad that is my fav song from that album)

It is a bit strange only 3 rappers have won AOTY Grammys
