I guess my point is that the fundamental goals of movements now vs then are significantly more to the left. Stopping climate crisis, inequality, white supremacy, military industrial complex etc. The civil rights movement and vietnam war were the starting points but if we compare those movements now to the average young persons positions those movements seem pretty middle of the road. Like we’re past lets let black people vote without being killed and let’s stop the draft to let’s dismantle white supremacy and let’s dismantle the military industrial complex.
