A socialist movement isnt going to be born out of voting for a non socialist lol

Yeah if Biden wins it cements the neoliberal left for decades. His VP could very well be Pres, but besides that, their argument that you cant “go too far left” to win elections will be validated.

Biden hasnt hired not one of Bernies people, he has no interest in listening to the progressive side. Why? Because we have 0 leverage in anything rn

Not really sure why you are drawing the line at “hiring Bernie’s people”.

Biden has been working directly with Bernie to establish committees on the climate, health care, immigration, education and justice reform.

“Bernies people”, like his former campaign manager, have stressed Biden’s openness to work with progressives.

Your views are at odds with reality.

I don't fall into this political camp so i'm not giving my personal opinion, but generally the reason you likely disagree is that the (real) left doesn't want a "progressive"; progressivism insinuates gradual social reform toward a goal (which theoretically could be knocked down by opposition), they want a hardliner whose rhetoric supports a fast, prioritized implementation of their ideas. this is why they tend to care so much about who the actual representative is; biden may compromise with left progressives, but that's not what they're asking for - they're asking for platform policy to be spearheaded by such ideas, not gradually slapped on by means of compromise.

Yah I mean for the most part I'm fine with gradual positive changes but things like universal healthcare and housing for all aren't things you compromise on for instance and then ofc Biden himself is just trash

  • May 25, 2020

@BA Task forces mean nothing and are merely symbolic. If Biden really wants to build a coalition, he'd have to have people in his cabinet be from Bernie's ilk, because like 35% of the Dem party are in that lane.

They put out some press release saying they'd be open to putting Republicans in the cabinet... that's insane, and the fact they'd happily put that idea out there instead of saying look we want progressives in our cabinet too is insulting.

To be honest Biden college plan isn't bad, it's not universal but he cut off the income in a reasonable area. He even said he'd tax Amazon, good. But he really needs to stop the old neoliberal policies like cozying up to private health insurance/banking and recognizing people like Guaido in Venezuela.

He really is painting himself to copy what Obama did and history shows that's not nearly enough.

nah he doesnt need 50% overall. Just enough in texas and florida to keep both. Then maintain enough white support in the rustbelt and he's fine.

I mean, I agree. I used 50% Latino, an unprecedented amount for a Republican running for President, to make the point that if he really did suffer anywhere near such a precipitous drop in white support as the polls have him at right now, even a wildly successful minority outreach campaign wouldn’t make up for it.

Now, I suspect that Trump’s share of the white vote is more likely to be closer to 58% than under 50%. Polls are polls, and it’s still over five months away. But repeating his 2016 performance in the Rust Belt (where he had little margin for error) is easier said than done.

I do genuinely think 40% is in play for Trump re: Hispanics (if none of the ones I know, except possibly my grandpa and myself), but that is admittedly largely based off of the same polls that give him less than 50% white

Which I don’t really believe be but

That would honestly be hilarious if trump got like 47 percent of the Hispanic vote and 46 percent of the white vote

    And lost obviously

Kind of proving you can’t win an election without white people just yet lol

A national realignment like that would be funny

He’s not winning the Hispanic vote, most he might get are the Cubans in Florida, and even then a lot of them are probably fine with biden

rather than admit any responsibility or blame for 2016, shes obsessed over russia for last 4 years as reason for her losing, trump and other politicians being agents for russia threatening over country's national security and democracy and so on.

now she looks like a huge idiot and hypocrite hoping china can somehow influence our elections. even if she was being facetious like cmon b****. literally taking mindset shes accused trump et al of for hacking 2016 election. her team revitalized cold war hysteria as cover for her taking biggest L of all time

I mean... there is pretty strong evidence that Trump’s team had a quid pro quo relationship in some capacity with a hostile foreign government to harm her in the 2016 election. The fact that people are willing to downplay that because of Hillary memes is the more ridiculous part.
