First off all, no, the issue is not america's lack of attentiveness to mental illness lol. It is the fact we treat housing as a commodity, where your ability to live in a home is in most cases directly tied to your ability to pay for said home. That is the issue, not mental illness.

Why can't they break the cycle? perhaps it is because the conditions wrought upon them that started the cycle in the first place are still there, because all the mental health counseling and d*** rehabilitation don't change that. they are band-aid solutions, they do nothing but shift the blame from systemic failure, which homelessness by and large is, to some sort of individual moral failing. tht if they could just stop doing d****, or if they could just get their mental healthy right, that the housing market would be more fair to them.

No, I believe it's our responsibility to be aware of whats going on, to take actions where we may and in a way that makes sense for us based on where we are in life, and to no actively contribute to the suffering of the people, such as by being a landlord.

This guy had club Dolphins tickets

He also had tickets in the regular 100s that he marked up and sold on the secondary market to pay for his club tickets

You could say this is smart, sure, “why not do that?”

but it’s also pretty scummy if you think about it the other way.

how it takes that opportunity away from someone who could’ve afforded those tickets at regular value but is now unavailable because this guy is using them to fund a higher tier of ticket himself, because he has the capital to do that.
